Mesut Ozil wrote: "Prior to the #WorldCup I supported the surgery of eleven sick children [in Brazil].

"Since the victory of the #WorldCup is not only due to eleven players but to our whole team, I will now raise the number to 23."

After reaching the knockout stages of the World Cup Algeria donated their total £5.25million prize money to Gaza.

Algeria striker Islam Slimani said the entire squad were donating the money because the territory needed it "more than us".

The nine day fighting surrounding the Gaza Strip has left 213 Palestinians dead and some wounded.

I suppose killing kids while they play football on the beach is just collateral damage.

People of God my arse.

Yeah, I read that about Ozil..... good man!

I didn't know that about the Algerian World Cup squad though. I suppose some of the prize money will find it's way to Hamas to buy more missiles to hit Israel with.... fortunately only the odd one or two get through thanks to their 'shield'.

Unfortunately, the Palastinians don't have that luxury, but if the Hamas terrorists are allowed to live amongst the civilian population, when it comes to retaliation, unfortunately there are bound to be civilian casualties and deaths. But that is the way terrorists work isn't it. Moving around the civilian population, using them as a protective barrier.

Why don't they all get together in a compound away from the cities so they can get it over and do with once and for all?......

Lovely to read isn't it? Especially in this day and age of the modern footballer, made out to be self centered and selfish etc

Don't the locals have the right to resist occupation? So terrorist or freedom fighter?

Germany occupied France, did you class the French resistance as terrorists? Israel have occupied Palestine, what's the difference?

You make Hamas sound like the bad guys, bringing death to their neighbours, do you believe that their neighbours don't back them? Using their fellow countrymen as a barrier, you make them sound cowardly, or is that the intent?

Yes, there are bound to be civilian casualties when those with their finger on the trigger have no regard for the lives of others.

Israel have special forces almost on a par with ours, kill squads are regularly used to infiltrate and wipe out specific targets with minimal collateral damage, they didn't need to target kids playing an a beach.

No justification.

Im with Juan on this, Isreal has treated the palesytines as evil people but taking there homes off them and penning them in like anaimals has created this reisiutance, i9f msomebody did this to us i would fight for freedom aswell, you can not treat people like animals as the Jews am i have nothing against jews but there has to be a faurness

If you think Algeria players giving money to Gaza is bad, I wonder what you think of the US governments funding of Isreals illegal occupation of the West Bank?
