Can't be a coincidence he got his payments just a few months before pulling out of the Fifa presidency race.
All bent as nine bob notes the lot of em

I wonder if FFP will survive this.

It will because the ECA want it to, and this is why:(see link) - they are now almost in control of UEFA, seriously, the influence they now weld gives them carte blanche to make UEFA do whatever they want them to:

I am so happy the poo is landing on Platini a player I idolized but the worse kind of nose in trough pig. If he is world footballs answer to Blatter they are asking the wrong question.

just how crooked does this sound to anyone with any commonsense:

He issued a statement saying the payment was for work

“carried out in a contractual manner for FIFA” as an adviser to Mr Blatter between 1999 and 2002.

But it remains unclear as to why it took nearly nine years for the sum to be paid.

Evolution. As long as the ECA is structured properly.

It's a major club concert party, it's a back door take-over.

I get it, I just hope we end up with a functioning progressive body instead of one set of bandits for another.

Even inspector clueseau could work that one out.

Sorry if spelling incorrect my French ain't great..... Seems bloater and platini have that problem too.

with Platini now implicated it would be the wrong message if he took over at Fifa and I'd imagine sponsors wouldn't let him if their proves to be any credibility to the allegations...

Platini is still bookies favourite to take over followed by Prince Ali Al-Hussein.
After that -
Sheik Ahmad Al-Sabah
Chung Mong Joon
Juan Angel Napout
Luis Figo

are all quite long odds. It's a mess.

Blatter statement - he's done nothing illegal and will not be stepping down

I'm struggling to think what story/excuse ( read: load of bollocks) that Blatter and Platini can possibly come up with for not paying someone for 9 years!!!

I don't care what bollocks they now come out with, it stinks, its stinks of everything corrupt we ever thought that this lot were up to, it stinks of backhanders and shady deals.

I can't wait for the Americans and now belatedly the Swiss authorities to hang this bunch of thieves out to dry and I pray they all end up getting 20 years.

Spot on.

FA have come out saying they're maintaining their support for Platini to be Blatter's successor.

He voted for Qatar. He was a big supporter of Blatter - that's enough for me to feel he shouldn't be running FIFA, and that's without the latest allegations

sponsors have demanded Blatter goes. Still not going. It's *almost* admirable the hubris he's displaying

he's desperately clearing up his tracks and trying to pull the strings to protect himself once he loses the protection of FIFA as an organisation.

The Russians must be working overtime to bend regional organisations to their view of events.

watch this space, there is soon more to come that will leave Russia smelling more than just a little...
