Congratulations to Phil Foden who has made it onto the shortlist for the BBC Young Sports Personality of the Year :001: :001:

What a year it has been for this young man.

A part of the England U17 squad that came from 2-0 down (scoring twice) to defeat Spain and become World Champions he was named Best Player of the Tournament and on Wednesday evening became the the youngest English player to start a Champions League match at 17 years and 192 days. A talent that has caught the eye of Pep Guardiola and who is surely destined to go far.

Good luck to him and the other contenders, Ellie Downing and Millie Knight.

The winner will be announced on Sunday 17th December.

I don't expect Phil to win this one, too many Rag fans will vote for one of the other Nominees, both good candidates for the award and whoever wins it will have earned the title.

Within the context of the award I understand the words 'Young', Sports, and 'Year' whilst 'of the' is reasonably self explanatory but exactly do they mean by 'personality'?
