I'm trying to reach out to as many people as I possible can about this. My Aunt is very seriously ill with a very rare form of cancer and her specialist has advised that her last chance is a brand new treatment that has shown very positive results on other forms of cancer. Only problem is, the NHS have denied her the chance to have the treatment due to how much it costs.

Please read this and more importantly, please sign and share it on your facebook/twitter/myspace/geocities site to get the word out there.

Let me know below if you do sign it because I'd like to thank you personally. Micky Hazard shared it for me. Bless him.

Thanks 80, thanks Ex. I really hope they do to. It seems mad to refuse this treatment on the basis that they would have to allow the same treatment to all sufferers of the same type of Cancer from then on. There are so few cases of it on a yearly basis too.

Every signature really helps so I am extremely grateful for your contributions.

As I pointed out in my comments we pay for gender reassignment and cosmetic breast augmentation. I have no issue being a higher rate tax payer but this is what I want my money spent on.

Thanks so much Don. I had the exact same conversation with a friend earlier about the cosmetics issue. Something isn't right about the whole thing. We kept asking ourselves; is it more important to (attempt to) save a life or is it more important that a girl feels better about herself because of having larger boobs? It's a no brainer to me.

My uncle had the same problem back in 2007- 2009. He was fighting for some special drug, we did fund raising events and loads of charity events to raise money. My Auntie had to re mortage the house in the end. Sadly he died not long after.

Good luck Matic, the NHS can be ruthless feckers at times.

In 2007, 49-year-old Andy Crabb, a father of three and grandfather of nine, was diagnosed with kidney cancer. His illness was so severe that he was told he had only months to live.

Andy Crabb was not given the drugs he needs by his local PCT
Andy's consultant suggested that he started an experimental drug trial, but the side effects were so severe that Andy had to stop it.

By now he was bedridden and extremely ill.

Andy's oncologist then applied for a new and expensive drug called Sutent.

It would not cure him, but it was hoped that it would stop his tumours growing and improve and extend his life.

However, Andy's local health authority - Oxfordshire Primary Care Trust - said it only provides Sutent for exceptional cases, and they ruled that Andy's case was not exceptional.

Fundraising

Though planning to appeal against this decision, Andy and his wife Diane felt that since his condition was deteriorating rapidly, their only choice was to pay for the drug privately.

Andy's wife Diane said: "I think it's disgraceful, absolutely disgraceful. Why do we have to pay for it when it should be available on the NHS?"

Using money gained by fundraising from friends and family, Andy was able to start paying for the treatment in May 2008.

Kate Spall, a health campaigner who has helped Andy and Diane, says the couple are not alone in having to fundraise to pay for a life-extending treatment.

"I think it's disgusting they are having to fundraise for this treatment," she said. "I can't imagine how Andy must feel - (it) must put so much pressure on them."

The drug costs Andy, a former bricklayer, around £3,400 every six weeks, but he only has enough money to last until the new year.

After that, unless he has persuaded his PCT to give him the drug on the NHS, he may have to sell his house in order to keep paying for the drug.

Done Matic, no need for thanks mate, all the best for your family, they are all that really count at the end of the day.

Is that your Uncle in the article RD? I'm sorry to hear he passed mate. Cancer is brutal and far too often it's winning. Thanks for your support too mate. We're going to fight them tooth and nail because this is unfortunately the only treatment her Cancer may respond to now. The fact that the NHS do offer it to treat some forms of Cancer was initially what filled us with hope, but sadly my Aunt is just a number on a spreadsheet now.

Let the fight begin though.

Yeah he was my uncle. Great bloke, sadly was treated like a piece of meat.

Lost my mum to the big C as well.

All the best Matic, signed the form for you.

Thanks mate. It's been a bit of a crazy 24 hours. My wife started the petition at about 23:00 on the 13th with a goal of 1,000 in 2 weeks. By 17:00 yesterday (14th) we had about 70 signatures and we were chuffed. At 7:00am this morning (15th) we hit 1,000 signatures and it currently stands at 1,681 with a new goal of 2,500.

A local radio station is going to interview my Aunt now as well, so it will hopefully help spread the word more.

A lot has happened in a week. Firstly, we're 70 signatures from hitting our next goal of 7,500. Absolutely amazing and thank you to everyone who signed it here. An amazing amount of positives have come from it too. My Aunt's case is being used to further support the 'Medical Innovation Bill' that is being spoken about in Parliament this Friday:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-29684785

My Aunt and my wife were also interviewed by BBC South Today on Friday and you can watch it here:

https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=721311961292730

Please share these things on Facebook, Twitter or whatever social media you think may help spread the word. We're aiming to get as many signatures as we can in time for Friday to help further support the case as this bill will definitely help sufferer's of rarer Cancers be treated with untested treatments that may save their lives when standard treatments won't.

We won't mate, I promise. This bill could be a big step forward in the way the NHS approaches untested or experimental treatments. Obviously we're fighting for my Aunt, but I feel the petition is also a voice for other Cancer sufferers who are willing to try anything to survive, even if it means being a guinea pig for a new drug that could eventually beat Cancer. South Today are interested in doing a follow-up interview with my Aunt too, based around this Bill.

All positive, but we still haven't got the result yet.

Matic I admire your determination. I hope your Aunt gets some help . I have been deeply affected by this horrible disease. My Mum, Grandmother and two Aunties were all lost to throat, pancreas and two to breast cancer, well before their time.

It makes me so angry , they were all beautiful people, kind, loving and would help anyone. One day I hope the scientists hit on the prevention and cure formula, it has to be out there somewhere.

Stay strong mate.

Thanks so much Nick and I'm sorry to hear about how much Cancer has hurt your family. I wish our stories weren't so damn common though.

I've lost too many people in the last 10 years to Cancer; two of them under 35. You just feel so helpless, so naturally when my Aunt needed help that we could provide we were straight on it. I will keep you all posted on what happens. I think my wife has spoken to my Aunt about ending the petition on Thursday so the final list of signatures can be presented at parliament on Friday, so share it on Facebook and Twitter and help us make a last push for signatures. We hit 7,500 yesterday and the new goal is 10,000. Currently it stands at 7,779.

Here's the link again so people don't have to go back to page 1 of the thread...
