I've always thought that changing managers out of desperation when you are nearing the end of the season is a recipe for disaster.When you’re where we are, you’re scraping the bottom of the barrel, and VP is among those you’ll find there. But he’s a new voice, a different way of doing things and players are always very receptive when a new coach comes in, especially when they think (rightly) that the previous one was detrimental to them. Some managers are more suited to short-term roles than longer-term ones, he has showed last season he can have an impact in a short space of time (albeit in a weaker league, especially at the bottom), so let’s hope he can do the same here.
Look at our first couple of seasons up in the EPL.
The teams that felt that had to keep changing manager were the ones who went down. The ones who had built an identity and team spirit for the whole season or more stayed up.
Obviously its not a hard and fast rule, but that's just how it seems to me.
