Pep Guardiola: The Man City manager described as football's Che Guevara

Vital Football Legend
Written by Guillem Balague.

Pep Guardiola is the son of a bricklayer who has been described as the Che Guevara of football - but who exactly is the Manchester City manager?

As he comes towards the end of his second season in England the 47-year-old remains something of an enigma in the country in which he now lives.

I have been following his life and career for more than 20 years, talking during that period to him and the key people who have helped shape the person he has become.

Working on an update of my Guardiola biography Another Way Of Winning, I caught up with them to discover whether he remains the same - or whether England has changed him.

(Listen to Pep Guardiola - 5 live sport special at 19:00 BST on Wednesday)

Radio 5 Live feature on Pep Guardiola tonight from 7pm.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b09z67qv

Will be available on iPlayer if unable to catch it live. Guillem Balague will be involved plus I am sure a myriad of people jumping on the bandwagon to claim they never doubted his greatness and how they always believed he could succeed in the Premier League.

What are odds that no-one, not a single person will be interviewed who will admit to having cast doubt on his ability to deliver the goods at City? All those nay sayers from two years ago, the ones who made such hay when he failed to win a trophy last season and were ponitificating “you can’t play that sort of football in the English game. Just won’t work”.........don’t think we will hear too many of them all of a sudden.......

I listened to it last night, and thought it was good. The piece with Walker, in particular , was fascinating.
