Peoples Front of Judea

Vital Champions League
I watched Life of Brian last night. Doesn`t seem so funny as it did when it hit the screens 40 years ago, but still amusing in parts.

I suppose it`s wrong to be amused about some of the issues made funny through disdain. Even more weird though (?), I can`t help reflecting that scenes involving the Peoples Front of Judea don`t seem too far removed from some of the narrative at the Labour conference in Liverpool today. Have we really moved on, or are we going backward..........

Before I get barracked, i`m not particularly inclined toward any political party. I dare say, it will be the same in Birmingham next week. Many politicians, most of them, perhaps, it seems to me, are hypocrites whose self interest and hidden agendas are masked with two-faced insincerity.

What did the Romans ever do for us ? (sorry guys, think i`m a bit bored !)

We get the politicians we deserve. In the vast majority of situations, being honest doesn't work.

Change ones view and you are "weak and u-turning". Stick to your policy and you are stubborn and not listening.

Peurile press coverage and public who are quick to criticise whilst barely understanding what they are talking about when they spout off.

No wonder we have ineffective government and politicians that Lancs slags off.

This rant is not party political btw apart from the fact that unbelievably some people still like B Johnson ffs (see my first comment).

You must be angry 58, You're not even on the right thread!
Or is there a deep irony I have overlooked?

Don't forget the revolution in information and communication technolgies which is completely undermining the assumptions underpinning most of our institutions and ways of thinking about them. We think in spatial terms -class layers, territories and borders- but we increasingly live networked. People have figured out how to be rich and powerful by exploiting the novelty, but no one has figured out how to manage it or live without it being managed. Right now we have a debate between 18th century individualists who want to let freedom blossom, 19th century racialists, nationalists and socialists who want to look after the right group, and 20th century social democrats who are reduced to saying don't rock the boat (imperfect, leaking boat though they accept it to e) -because it'll be awful. None of them can cope. And if they say they can't cope, we kick them out and replace them by the liars who say they can. A war will clear the air, much like a plane crash gets all the other passengers behaving the next day, if anyone survives a war that is.

Oh,
"There shall, in that time, be rumors of things going astray, erm, and there shall be a great confusion as to where things really are, and nobody will really know where lieth those little things wi-- with the sort of raffia work base that has an attachment."

I've never been to a Labour Conference but I bet they are a right laugh.:rotfl:

Many moons ago, I shared a flat in London with a guy who was a Trade Union Rep.
I swear I never saw him laugh or smile.
Everything was an issue.
All these years on, I'd bet he is up in Liverpool, having a laugh.:shake:

Once met Graham Chapman whilst working in Safeway in Maidstone and spent about half an hour talking about The Life Of Brian, I was (and still am) a massive fan.
As he left the store he turned and gave the PFJ salute and said "Solidarity brother". To which I couldn't resist saying "or sister".
Oh how we laughed ??
Genuinely nice bloke and I was gutted when he died not long after our meeting.

Lancs was slagging off politicians. I was stating why most of them come across as sh#t. The public deserve them. Why is that the wrong thread?

Just to add to my rant, the people who moan about politicians but can't be arsed to do anything and don't even get off their arses and spoil their ballot paper to show their disgust every few years.

Thing is that all those years ago, we were laughing at obscure, noisy, lefist sects who seemed to enjoy going after each other more than anything else -now it's the mainstream parties which have splintered into factions which seem to enjoy going after each other more than anything else.

I would say that the left fit your description , more than any others.
But that's just my opinion.

The answer is simple boys and girls; don't put your faith, trust or hope in politicians or governments.

Take (back) control of your lives and form alliances with others who are like-minded. Work together, co-operate and rely only upon yourself and each other. Don't rely upon some bod you voted for. Or rather, probably didn't fcking vote for.

The politicians are fcking lame but us people are pretty amazing when we get our heads together and work something out. Don't wait for politicians and governments to sort things out. Start local and sort your own communities. Do that and you'll have some anarchy in action.
