The point is Prem; You could retire at least two years earlier than todays generation therefore you've 'received' at least £13,416 more than you would if you had to retire now (£129 x 104 weeks). Also, today's generation, if they don't have the full NI contributions (i.e. 35 years) DON'T get a full pension and is likely to be the same or less than you currently get.
I pad contributions for over 50 yrs all I am saying is that the basic pension should be the same for all.
 
That's a fair enough point Prem old boy but what about those layabouts that have scrounged off the system all of their lives? Should THEY get the same as everyone else?

I don't know about that but my argument is that they should get LESS not equal. If you've chosen to bludge off the tax payer all your life then, when retirement age comes around, you should expect NOTHING!
