Manager Manuel Pellegrini has admitted that our defensive showing in the four one defeat to Liverpool yesterday simply wasn't good enough and that applied to the overall......

Why did I bother reading that? I'm even more angry now than I was.how can he say he'd pick the same team again? Infuriating!

At first I was somewhat aghast that he hadn't taken some responsibility for the team selection but as I typed out a comment I can only believe that he has laid into players privately but wanted to avoid delivering an easy story for the hacks if he hung a couple of people out to dry - "Pellegrini admits he got it wrong" or "Yaya to blame says Pellegrini". My only belief is that by emphasising the responsibility of all those he picked he avoids stepping into a media nightmare.

I could of course be completely wrong and Manuel could be delusional in thinking that he can genuinely expect to play Toure in a defensive midfield two against high energy, high pressing teams. #totalliability

I get that Skoorb and I agree that he doesn't have to explain himself to the media BUT when he's giving these interviews he has to accept that they're not just for the media's benefit they are for City fans benefit too.

It's worrying that he can't see the major flaw in the team he put out, if indeed he's being genuine in his response.

One last point, having Yaya in a two man midfield does in general leave us more exposed as we all know his willingness to put in a shift defensively is minimal however it was the fact that he went with just two in centre mid against a Klopp side that was the major brain fart, even if it had been any two from the Ferns and Delph we still would've been outnumbered. I just can't get my head around going to Villa and playing three in centre mid when the likelihood is they will sit in and so the extra protection in midfield isn't required and then going back to two against a Klopp side when the likelihood is the opposition will flood the midfield and try put us on the back foot. It's just plain stupid.

I am not blaming Yaya, because I think for the way he plays he needs room and he can't with this system of 5 across the middle.

I expect Yaya to be on the Berti come Wednesday, but we do need a big upturn in form as Liverpool made us look as bad as they are normally.

At the end of the day, we are third, two points off the top of the table, and Liverpool are 9th. We'll see who is on top at the end of the season, but I feel that we will finish above them once again.

Philly I see you point, its not losing that is the problem, it was the way they lost, they were poor and this is now two games where they have not been the side to win the league.

They should have been up for this match but Liverpool thrashed us and the last thing you want to do is give other sides impetus or confidence to come here and win.
