Paxman gets Branded

DeanoVilla - 25/10/2013 10:30

I love Russell Brand. Always have done, and have always thought those that hate him are those that have not even bothered to give him a chance.

On first impressions, yeah i thought he was a nob. But I gave him a chance and after 10 minutes of Ponderland I completley changed my opinion and was in tears of laughter.

Comedy aside, the clip above with Paxman shows he is a very quick, confident and clever individual. Lesser people would have fumbled when Paxman came at them so hard. Brand took it, turned it and came out on top. Fair play.

Prep, you got the clip from the American one? Not seen that yet.

Idealist talk. Funny at times. Nothing new here other than he shut Paxman up alot.

I just kept thinking of 'Citizen Smith' and Viva the Revolution :21:

I lost interest half way through when it became a rally for the Labour party.

Brand is a self promoting popularist. The young will like him because he seems anti-establishment and the old will dislike like him for the same reason, that will endear him more with the young. I love the way he attacks the corporate culture yet he is paid massively by those corporations to make films and DVD's. Personally I have seen many entertainers come and go over the years who want to change the system, trouble is they never actually do anything about it, and just keep on taking the cash. Ben Elton anyone?

As for the Robert Webb letter, jesus, do we really need another comic giving his patronising opinion? Personally the older I get the more I like people to work for me who know their jobs. So when I want my car fixed I go to a mechanic, I do not give Chubby Brown a call and see how he is fixed to look at my big end. One of the biggest problems we have these days is the cult of personality. The idea that all politicians are on the make, and that all outspoken musicians and comedians are cool and have all the answers. Just look at the nonsense that is Question Time FFS. WHo really cares what Will Young has to say about anything?
Russell Brand is right in one aspect. We need a revolution, but not as he foresees. We need a revolution of people trusting politicians again. We need a revolution where people like myself see the merit in voting again. This means that the Politicians need to start being honest, and actually start telling the electorate the truth. As long as we have the current system where media sound bites are more important than substance then people will never trust them.

Capitalism has a brilliant and effective system for ensuring that no educated person of the oikish classes or peasantry remains in a position where they can cause trouble and counter the propaganda of the dominant political class.

It is called promotion: any putative or potential trouble-maker is promoted to a higher class where they gradually identify with the ruling elite out of self-interest, so that the peasants are left without an advocate.

Any person who is promoted to a higher class but still persists in championing the causes of the lower class is simply branded as a hypocrite or Champagne socialist, or whatever, to destroy their credibility.

This is how the lower-classes are kept powerless.

Things have improved though: in the old days they stabbed Watt Tyler, now you get offered the foreman's job.
