Johnny Sur Le Spot:

#LOVELY-STUFF.... PSG, Manchester City have got your number.. I would suggest this game tells the story of two massively different national leagues. By the end of this enthralling contest the French champions were visibly shattered and had run completely out of ideas, whereas The Blues, looking much fitter than their counterparts had reduced the Parc to a library atmosphere and were dictating proceedings... It was self evident as the contest wore on that PSG do not come up against the type of stamina City dug deep with tonight on a regular basis. That Laurent Blanc's men appeared reliant upon the type of cheating David Luiz has become synonymous with and a clearly off side and interfering with play Zlatan Ibrahimovic to get ahead in this game speaks volumes. Mark this. In the Premier League strikers have to track back constantly to defend. Zlatan, with his Ligue 1 deckchair out tonight would never last the pace in England on this evidence...Paris were distinctly underwhelming and ultimately unable to take advantage of the ever present predictable tactics Manuel Pellegrini deployed once more that left our midfield light and our central defenders over exposed yet again. ...That said, PSG now have to go to Manchester for a win without their stand out player Matuidi and the referee conning Luiz whereas City boast two fabulous away goals. Advantage City. Men of the Match tonight: England's Number One and a superb Kevin De Bruyne who ran himself into the ground for the cause....Job half done.

Just seen the replays, Luiz cheated to get the penalty and their second should have been flagged offside IZ plays for the ball but not seen conveniently by the ref and assistant.

It was a good point in the after match debrief on BT sport by David Ginola, who gave credit to City as did Shay Given, but Ferdinand says that we have no chance of winning this trophy.

The point was that PSG meet teams in the league that are not up to the standard of the Premier and rarely meet teams of the quality of City and Ginola went onto say that he had not seen PSG play like this all season and it comes as a shock

He is alright is French Dave. Have to say though Ferdinands anti-city stance is ruining that show. The Ginger Pig would have given us more credit I am sure of it. Rio played in many games away like this in Europe where the rags came out of it in the box seat. The talk then was of finishing the job at home. Somebody at BT has to be seeing this bitterness.

I hear Agent Mills was at it again on 5 live.

Keep it coming you bitter twats.

Luiz is a horrible cheating twat. Have to say though that Manga incident could easily have gone the other way, would've been a red too, phew!

He would probably get death threats if he said anything nice about City.

Just watching the highlights on ITV that's how you commentate, when the pen was saved and we scored there was genuine feeling there

I thought it was a pen and no-one has said anything about that incident in the after match debriefs. I can only think that the ref thought Mangles got a touch to it as the ball squirted away in the right direction for a good tackle.

I agree. It is firmly in our hands. What an amazing opportunity.

I see that Mangala and Otamendi are getting caned by hacks and pundits the morning after. Again failing to see how our two central midfielders do not afford them any protection whatsoever and so have to work overtime. Its been the same all bloody season. As I said on the match thread after Fernie lost the ball in their half of the centre circle and Nando was bypassed just as we have seen against Leicester etc we were lucky to get away with Zlatan missing it but in my book to have gone their effectively 424 was high risk and we need 3 in midfield next Tuesday night.

I think Delph ahead of F6, I also was disappointed that they got down the flanks too often as well and in any event Yaya may be fit to return.

PSG will be without Matudi and David Luiz I assume their yellows have done for them and maybe us a favour

Mangala getting caned? British papers or French? Apart from a couple of sloppy passes he was immense.

Otamendi does have a tendency to get sucked out of position as he follows his opponent all over the park & I wonder how much this is absence of those in front doing their job as much as communictaion problems - he should be passing the player on to one of his midfield shield but is it perhaps a language issue?

The stick they have been getting has been disproportionate in my book with a lack of recognition to the disruption our defence (esp the CB pairings) has suffered this season. Difficult to build partnerships when you don't play regularly with the same guy. Plus the media types love to hang onto the 'How They Miss Vincent Kompany' line - easy, over-simplified and shallow punditry.

BTW anyone else think Turdinand has replaced Hansen as the most miserable pundit on tv?

No that is Danny Mills, but Turdinand is defo in the top 5

I agree Blue dub, I thought Otimendi and Mangala had great games, Even Navas had a good game, from where I was in the stand I couldn't see the penalty, but the screens l made it look harsh, I don't think it would have been given in EPL, but we stuck at it and got what we deserved,
All day yesterday in the bars I was asked what score, and all I said was 'We won't get beat' some Parisians looked at me strange but in the end I was right.....

Now I think we can finish the job off at The Etihad, if we don't have the attitude as "the jobs done all we have to do is turn up" as we have in some games this term, as it's only 60% done, we need to be on it again like last night...... but a great night....
