This astonishing picture of an “organism” found in space has baffled scientists who think it is a “seed” sent to Earth by aliens.

The never-before seen image shows a microscopic metal globe spewing out biological material feared to be an infectious agent.

Though the origin or purpose of the mysterious sphere is uncertain, experts say it could contain genetic material - the precursor to life.

They sensationally claim it could have been designed by an intelligent species to “seed” and propagate alien life on Earth.

It is the first time anything like this has been seen and points not only to the existence of extra-terrestrial life, but to complex and civilised beings watching our planet.

It follows findings that DNA capable of inserting itself into living creatures and replicating can exist in harsh space conditions.

Professor Wainwright said the structure is made from the metals titanium and vanadium with a “gooey” biological liquid oozing from its centre.

He said there are several theories as to where it came from, the first being it is a complete microorganism programmed to propagate alien life on Earth.

“It is a ball about the width of a human hair, which has filamentous life on the outside and a gooey biological material oozing from its centre,” he said.

“We were stunned when X-ray analysis showed that the sphere is made up mainly of titanium, with a trace of vanadium.

He said one theory is the object was released deliberately to infect the human race with life-threatening diseases, another is that it travelled millions of miles on a comet.

He said: “For the moment, we are content to say that the life-containing titanium sphere came from space, possibly from a comet.

LOL. Oh, Professor Wainwright is at it again, is he? He is a card, but unfortunately he is also a terribly bad scientist. What wild conclusions to jump to with no proof or reason. There are alternative explanations for this existing, not least being contamination of the specimen.

Anyway, the tin foil hat brigade will no doubt love it.

Not the first time you've dismissed a whole piece by ridiculing one of the sources, can you link to your evidence that this professor is a "terribly bad scientist" or is it just your opinion?

You have made many statements of fact on the validity of various academics that I have quoted in various threads, are we to assume that you are qualified to a comparable or greater degree? This obviously has a direct impact on how people would view your opinions on other academics.

Do you also have a problem with Professor Wickramasinghe? Director for research at the institute has long-maintained biological material including bacteria and viruses are constantly raining down from the skies.

He said: “Mainstream science and institutions have fought against theories which expound these beliefs but now evidence from meteorites, from samples of bacteria from space and from space observation is making resistance more difficult.

“Proving that the Earth is in a constant exchange of matter with the larger cosmos would have implications not only in terms of our identity, but could also give us insight into alien viruses which may be important for our group identity, evolution and survival itself.”

How does "contamination of the specimen" explain the "impact crater"

Professor Wainwright and his team found the object in dust and particulate matter collected from the stratosphere.

He sent balloons 27km into the sky to collect debris from space and isolated several particles he claims are proof of life in space.

It comes as the mysterious “ghost particle”, also found by Professor Wainwright was revealed and follows the revelation last year of the astonishing “Dragon Particle” the first of its kind to point towards proof of life in space.

Professor Wainwright said the curious orb landed on the sampler balloon it left a tiny impact crater proving it could not have gently fallen from close by.

He said: “On hitting the stratosphere sampler the sphere made an impact crater, a minute version of the huge impact crater on Earth caused by the asteroid said to have killed off the dinosaurs.

“This impact crater proves that the sphere was incoming to Earth from space, an organism coming from Earth would not be traveling fast enough when it fell back to Earth to cause such damage.

LOL. The fact that he jumps to the conclusion that it is alien life should tell you all you need to know. He's trying to grab headlines, and yes, he is known for this sort of thing. He has very little respect from the Scientific community, and the journal he posted in even less.

Yes, it is one possible answer, but is it the most likely? Should a Scientist be publishing anything without incontrovertible truth? Is his work open to others to verify? This is the way Science works, and if Professor Wainwright doesn't want to play ball, then you can only assume he's not really very good.

I do believe that DNA exists in space, on comets and asteroids, but to suggest an alien race made it is preposterous. You mention Professor Wickramasinghe, and he said “We are not going to lean towards an ‘extraterrestrial origin’ theory regarding this rain. Additional tests of a biochemical nature are being done, and we hope to learn more from these tests.” about another story that some claimed to be alien in origin. He does not support the alien origin angle to the story.

Its quite easy to become a member of the scientific community, you just follow like a sheep. I have members of family high up in the field and to "get on" all they have to do, is follow and agree what the book says. Anyone dare challenge the book?

And its a shame because variety, madness, extremity, weirdness etc, are made the great scientists of the past.

The problem is these days is that science is linked heavily with politics & money(especially medical science). Can you imagine if science did find an alien and the political cover up that would follow? The scientist's that follow like sheep are the one's you cannot trust. In the pockets of those higher up the chain - and we are puppets they feed the news to. Any scientist with news that goes against these guys in control, are laughed at by those in control.

No, you don't follow like a sheep. You think for yourself, else how else do new ideas get explored?

There are, however, certain guidelines and principals that you should follow in releasing your results, if you want to be taken seriously. Peer review is an important part of that, in fact possibly the most important. Every theory that is proven correct is open to you and me to examine in minute detail. Those that don't release their methodology and data are usually hiding something.

I'm sure everyone here will agree, GT. Your record on Science isn't exactly stellar, is it? How many times have you been right so far? Is that a big fat zero, I hear?

Even the peer reviewed papers have to "reviewed" by the scientific Gods, all owned by the people at the top.

Money makes the world go around and around....Don't you just love it?

Who do you suggest reviews them? You?

I tell what Heath...I will let you review them all. If it was up to me, Santa Claus & the Easter Bunny would really exist.

I am fascinated by learning and reading about these things i would not end up hearing about, it could well be alien in origin or it may not but no tests have proven either way yet, the thing that makes me wonder is super intelligent life out there would use something like this a microscopic seed of some kind instead of a huge massive type of seed to create life or even end life of some sort, i think we should keep our minds open and not dismiss things that sound far fetched in today's lofestyle, but then that's me lol i think there is waaay more than we will even realise tbh

The thing i find is even though we are born into this life we seem to learn we am on a ball of rock spinning around thousends of miles per hour and orbiting the sun a giant fireball and floating around in space, a kind of nothingness, and we accept all this as ''normal'' lol now to me floating around on a ball of rock in a notingness orbiting a fireball is mental and how big things am compared to us out there tells me we really may well be something we will never realise, this is why i feel science is brilliant but also has to grasp what we don't know does not mean it can't be true,,,,,,but i liv this stufff, Cheers Juan dude got my few cells firing in my head tonight!
