Pablo Zabaleta stays at City

Pablo Zabaleta has said he is staying at City for the last season of his contract and this he decided in June after talking to Pep Guardiola, who asked him to stay.

For me this is good news and although he may not get to play every game, he is one of the few players that puts a shift in every time he puts on the shirt.

Looked woefully out of sorts in many games last season, but hopefully that was just lack of fitness after long layoffs. Has looked more like his old self in preseason games.

Yes or even central midfield? LOL

I have had this nightmare vision that Pep has come up with a footballing chaos theory and we are to be his guinea pigs lol

I myself have been plagued with a recurring dream that we are going to be a test bed of footballing ideas and that before the end of the month Phil Neal will return as caretaker manager..... :002:

Seriously though, I do have concerns that the media hacks are just waiting in the wings to feast on Pep should we fail to destroy teams 8-0.

The lack of a cohesive build up has me a bag of nerves. Just not sure how quickly the players will 'get it' and start delivering. At Barcelona (in the league) he lost his first game, drew the second and then won the third handsomely.......and we all know how the rest of that season panned out but not sure our squad has the qualities (yet) or cohesiveness that he had available at Barcelona.

I just hope he has enough left in the tank to cope in Pep's system. Going off last season that doesn't seem likely but like Citizhun mentioned that could be just due to his injuries last term.

What I would hate to see is Zaba struggling to cope and the fans turning on him.

Very true.

It is very demanding and whilst there is no question about Zaba's willingness to fight for the cause, his brain may start writing cheques his body can no longer cash. If he is fully fit though his overlapping runs would be just what Guardiola is looking for.
