Pablo Zabaleta leaves City at the end of the Season

Buzz Lightyear

Alert Team
Pablo Zabaleta will leave City at the end of the season, bringing the curtain down on an incredible nine-year association with the Blues.
The 58-times capped Argentina international is out of contract in the summer and has informed the Club he will move to pastures new, but leave behind many happy memories.

Fans will have the opportunity to show their appreciation for one of the Club’s most loyal and loved servants of recent times against West Brom on Tuesday evening, which will be Pablo’s last home appearance.

Though there are a number of first-team player contracts currently under consideration, Pablo's situation is the only one that has been fully finalised.

327 appearances and 11 goals in all competitions, 328 & 9 if he makes the squad for the last two games.

It will be strange not seeing his name of the squad sheet.

thanks Pablo

We were expecting this but it's still hard to take.
Thank you Zaba for all the memories.
I wish him all the best but I just hope he doesn't go to another Prem side. Don't think I could watch him play against us.

An absolute City legend :021:

One of may all time favourite City players - as a defender I have always had a soft spot for full backs and he is right up there along with Tony Book and Willie Donachie. He will be sorely missed.

A stalwart throughout the most astonishing period our club has witnessed in a generation he has played an utterly crucial part in cementing the foundations for the future. He will always be welcome at Manchester City nd will always be fondly remembered. That this should be announced this weekend five years after the first time the club won the Premier League title is very poignant. Whilst tht day will ways be remembered for the winning goal scored by his fellow Argentine, it is important to recall the utterly critical part that he played in that victory.......

With half time approaching and the crowd getting anxious it was his goal, after his trademark run into the box, that settled the nerves (for a while at least)........

It was his indefatigable overlapping run in the first minute of deed time that led to the corner from which Edin Dzeko scored the equalising goal to bring us all hope......

In the third minute of added time, after Shaun Wright-Phillips had nicked the ball away from Nigel de Jong just outside the QPR penalty area and was racing away upfield, it was Pablo Zabaleta that made a lung-busting chase (Shaun was pretty fast) before making a crucial challenge on the half way line for the throw in from which we regained possession........and the rest is history.

For those moment and for the loyal service, commitment and dedication to our club I will always hold him in the highest regard :001: :001: :001: :005:

This announcement by the club will clearly give fans the opportunity to show their appreciation for an absolute legend of Manchester City football club and is a measure of how well regarded he is that they should make this news public this weekend. I expect it will be an emotional farewell when he leaves the pitch to a well deserved standing ovation. :001:

Sad but what can you do?

Possibly my fave player (after Colin Bell - just as Hendrix will always win greatest guitarist polls so Nijinski's position is unassailable).

Hope he gets a wonderful send off! (and doesn't join the rags...)

He is City best of the old part of the new.
Gave everything for the team a modern Mick Doyle
To much a blue to go to the dark side will end up in Spain, you like the heat when you get older

What a man, what a player.
Applause to the parties that recruited him. Shows what you can unearth with a bit of effort and research.
Strange to recall some posters who rated Richards ahead of Zabaleta.

Micah was justifiably being picked ahead of him in our first title winning season. That's the beauty of Zaba, he put his head down, worked hard and was easily the best right back in the league the season after.

Came in as replacement for Corluka didn't he? Remember at the time thinking it was a bad move. Boy, did he prove me wrong :007:

Always admired Pablo for his skill and heart.
You don't get men like him every day.
I wish him everything that he wishes for himself and his family.
Stay safe and take care Pablo.
Thank you :005:

I think it's all been said. A man who made the most of his talent, a true City legend and always welcome back. :001: :001: :001: :001: :001:

Zaba: "I remember at that time [Sir Alex] Ferguson and the 'noisy neighbours,' and this is something that I have been since that time! For me, we couldn't let people say something like that about us"

Old Bacon and his mind games eh?

I remember Zabaleta getting sent off against Liverpool for a late challenge and thinking he too slow where's Micah.

Now I love him, as people say he is not a superstar, but he is a Manchester City fan.

Got a farewell Zabba t shirt of the OS
I used to complain about him giving away frees near our penalty box
Boy did he prove me wrong
Good luck Zabba where ever you go ,just not the Premier League
