I know it’s been thrust upon us by circumstance, but I personally don’t think it’s a bad thing that our youngsters are being given a chance of first team football.
Under Cook there didn’t seem to be a path from the academy to the first team, which I never thought a good thing !.
At least now they are being given an opportunity to show what they can do and with guidance and mentoring by the older more experienced players, I’m sure a number of these lads will develop to be very valuable members of the Latics first team squad.
After all, teams such as Liverpool and Man United give their youth a chance, take Trent Alexander and Marcus Rashford as classic examples, both still only 22 years old, yet first team regulars for the past few seasons - hard to believe they would be getting called “Kids” if they played at Wigan !
