Our Strongest XI

Curious to see what others think our strongest starting line up is. For me, the XI in last night's game against Chelsea is as strong as it gets for us right now. Great balance and zero weakness.

I'm also glad to see what I said many seasons ago finally happening, which is us playing wing backs with a back 3 (I've always maintained wing backs in a back 4 is dangerous). Walker and Rose are now often our furthest two players forward and their pace and stamina mean we never get found wanting at the back.

What the formation does mean though, is that players like N'Kodou and Lamela almost become obsolete, unless you try to convert the two into wing backs?

-------------Loris--------------
-----Dier--Toby--Jan-------
Walker---Victor------Rose
-----Alli---Moose--Eriksen---
--------------Kane-------------

Can't beat that right now....

There are a few players such as Son I like very much, but to be honest I think you have it about right

Agree...at the moment. Things change though, a few of those players are inconsistent.

When everyone is fit our bench is decent as well

Depends on who we are playing.... against stronger opposition i would play that team, against lesser opponents at home i would go back to 4 at the back with Wanyama/Dier partnering dembele in midfield and Lamela starting.

Yesterday we played 3-4-2-1 which changes to a 5-4-1 when defending
It is a good setup when playing teams who take the game to you.
Against teams who park the bus I believe this lineup doesnt work.

Favourite line up against teams top 6, 3-4-2-1
Hugo
Dier Alderweireld Wimmer
Trippier Wayama Dembele Rose
Alli Eriksen
Kane

Wimmer I chose cause I think he is the more reliable player then jan. Jan always looks like getting a red card. Also likes to do silly things. I anyway think that toby is key to our defense not jan.
Trippier I chose cause he has them crosses in him which Kyle doesnt have.

Favourite line up with teams below top 6 4-2-3-1

Hugo
Walker Toby Wimmer Rose
Dier Dembo
Lamela Alli Eriksen
Kane

Walker cause of his pace/stamina.
Dier cause he has the better passing then Waya

Good post 85. Nice to see you have a slightly different opinion to others but give good reasons why.

Like you I prefer Trippier as he is an excellent crosser of the ball.

I'd go along with that Dave, although I miss Lamela and think he's important to our attacking play.

Eriksen next to Wanyama instead of Dembele has proven his best position. That's the metronome we have been looking for and I'd keep him there(and well away from the LW/RW). He needs to be the guy receiving the ball, not Dembo.

I'll also play Trippier ahead of Walker.

Since poch has changed his tactics to those that conte plays at chelsea we have looked unbeatable. We have the better CB's, WB's and DM's in the league imo. The new system has breathed life in to ali and eriksen and we are scoring plenty of goals.

I believe we can go on our own winning run now and hopefully hunt down the chavs. IMO we have a good chance at winning the EL if taken seriously and the FA cup. We should be taking a major trophy this season.

I would go with a similar logic. Against teams that are content sitting in their half for the entire game and the middle of the park is no longer contested, i would include coco.

For games where you need to win the middle at all costs i would stuff it with dembele and Wanyama.

Who would hav EVER thought that replacing Erik Lamela with Eric Dier would turn the team's performances into works of art?
