Our Next Manager.

1958Villan

Vital Football Hero
With our current manager showing no sign of having the ability to get the club promoted, in fact looking more and more likely to see us relegated, who would you like to see in the hot seat.

I'm at a loss to be honest which is why I can't go so aggressively with the Bruce out stuff. I want him gone but I have no idea who we could replace him with. I would say Big Sam but he's effectively retired. Definitely not Warburton that guy fell apart at Rangers so he wouldn't hack it here.

Dare I say it if Allardyce isn't up for it then we need someone new and fresh the same old names like Moyes and Pardew are unimaginative. I'll throw Ryan Giggs in the mix.

Well that's twice now Dean Smith has done Bruce over. He seems to know what he's doing.

I'm going to go out on a limb and suggest Dundalk manager Stephen Kenny. Plays brilliant stuff with Dundalk and stood toe to toe with the likes of Zenit St. Petersburg, Alkmaar and Maccabi Tel Aviv in the Europa League. Not to mention hammering Bate Borisov along the way.

Maybe it's time to head into the unknown. I never heard of the Leeds manager before, he's doing pretty well, same goes for a lot of other clubs who have hired relatively unknown managers.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing but if only Garry Monk was in the market he'd be my first choice.

Giggs is a good shout, usually younger managers irritate me because they tinker to much especially in a game - go 1 down after half hour then start changing the shape & players positions. He's obviously a big name and had experience at united even if it wasn't the best form of his life.

Sacking the manager is not the answer imho . Especially looking at that list of alternatives.
We need to stop this knee jerk Bruce out reactive behaviour

Haven't we done this recently ? My vote was Smith.

Hoping Bournemouth bin Hope then my vote would change to him.

Bruce to go this week, after Boro.

Yeah get a new manager. That'll work. Just like it has since 2009. The evidence is overwhelming.

Don't care about Bruce, but people are deluded if they think the next victim is going sweep in and get things going.

In any case, sorry to disapoint those that think they will see a yellow banner on SSN tommorrow morning announcing Bruce's sacking.

It will not happen until October at least if things persist this way.

Why ? what have you seen to suggest he'll turn it around ?

It's like sticking with Gabby as a player and thinking he'll come good , he won't .

Managers are like players they come and go , they all go eventually it's just a question of timing .

unless they are called Wenger

The players aren't playing for the manager, that's what I'm seeing on the pitch.

We're 18th in the league after 6 games, we deserved to lose today and are a far cry from going on a winning run let alone winning this league

Never mind 2009 mate we are in the championship and have a new owner who at present seems willing to invest. What happened under Lerner is yesterdays chips. You could argue that changing managers is what kept us up for as long as we did. That is definitely true in the case of Sherwood. It's not cut and dry that keeping McLeish for example would've brought us success is it?

What a shit pointless list it is anyway.

Rowett ?- erm just taken over Derby - non starter
Warburton- erm just taken over Forest- non starter
Any fan of those clubs will piss their pants at the arrogance of us to think we can just cherry pick these managers.

Ryan Giggs - what the hell qualifies him as a manager for us. Oh he was a great player. No precedent of great players, shit managers is there. Throwaway choice.

Fat Sam - retired. What is it that people do not understand about the word retired. It means you don't want to/ need to work anymore. He has said this several times . Just to be clear he is retired.

Nigel Clough - if only it was his old man. Uninspiring as they come

Gareth Ainsworth - you are kidding, right?

Dean Smith - ah the old recent memory choice. Should've gone for Phil Parkinson when he did us in the league cup semi final with Bradford.

Stephen Kenny - great track cyclist and lovely wife but really ?

He should own up now and resign as he just isn't up to the job he's had two transfer windows he's got the players he wanted and admits he has the best squad in the league, then puts out a performance like that. If he can't motivate or give them direction he should go and take his coaching staff with him. My user name is The R Word and if we keep going the way we are we'll be using it again this season :54:

Not a throwaway choice at all. Do you want Alan Pardew or Moyes? They are the only ones "qualified" to manage us. I threw Giggs in there for a young coach looking to make a name for himself in management rather than the same old people who you class as "uninspiring". Giggs has got his Pro Licence so technically he's as qualified as anybody else. As for your point about a precedent most of Fergie's ex players who have gone on to management have done quite well at football league level. Every good manager has to start somewhere. Bruce has a record of promotion and championship experience he hasn't worked.

Young coach looking to make a name for himself you say.

Been there done that. Failed.

How is Tim Sherwood getting on these days ?

Shall we include Stevie G then ?

He kept us up and took us to a cup final mate.

So from all the football managers in the world we'll stick with Steve Bruce because there is nobody else who is capable or interested or better than him . Little old Aston Villa couldn't attract anyone better . I somehow don't believe that , £1.5 million a year might just attract a few.

I think there might be a few applicants and some of them might be able to coach decent football

I'm happy with a young manager looking to make a name for himself, the last decade has been depressing but at least under TS (a young manager) we played with more passion than I see today.

Young managers are a risk though as I stated above, however I don't personally want another Bruce/Allardyce/Pulis type - I want someone who can come in and treat Villa as a project bringing a philosophy. It sounds like the club is taking on the Southampton model so that when there is a playing management change, the rest of the club maintains it's momentum. An old school manager you could argue would be less willing to work in this new structure.

Garry Monk is 38
Eddy Howe is 39
Marco Silva at Watford is 40
Nuno Santo at Wolves is 43

Three quality managers in my opinion there who at some point someone has taken a punt on.

Bruce is a yesterday man, clueless in modern game.

Calderwood left Brighton and they haven't looked back.

Fuck them off now, they don't deserve to be at Villa.

Bruce is a dinasour we need new ideas the squads there but not the leader.get pardew the aggorant git these players need putting in there place and the guy has it
