While everyone's attention was on the world cup & Forest making their first signing yesterday Notts CCC quietly got them selves to T20 finals day on Saturday by beating Surrey in a remarkable quarter final where Surrey were 100/0 chasing just over 160 & Notts still managed to beat them with a fantastic comeback. Watched the highlights on YT this morning and it really was a remarkable finish.

RIP Sir Garfield Sobers. One of the best in the game back in the day. 6x6 for Notts, 1st time ever.

Had a house 1 minute from where I grew up. Never saw him though.

Cheers and thanks for the memories Sir.
I always rated him the best player I've seen in my lifetime could do it all Bat, bowl quick, bowl left arm spin, catch everything & anything that came his way even after a good night out by all accounts & always with a smile. Scratch golfer as well apparently

My dad found me a summer holiday job at Moon's car wash, right by the City Ground. Maybe he wanted to toughen me up.

After I washed a car, (they went through a carwash thing and then we wiped the water off as I recall) I was told it was driven by Gary Sobers. Hadn't realised.

There was always a white Merc parked in his driveway. Where I was dragged up, a flash car like that was very noticeable. Maybe you washed that car, wouldn’t that be a small world? Anyway, the kids on the estate were always Garry Sobers lives there, like we would walk slowly past his place just in case we caught him leaving. Autograph hunting. Saw him once from a distance getting in to his car, ran down the street trying to see him but he was gone in a jiffy.

On that cricket note, my dad was Polish. He came to England after the war. He fully assimilated and knew more about cricket that we did. He would walk past Garry Sobers house and ask me (in broken English) do you know who lives there?

Sorry to rabbit on a bit but jeez, thinking back Sir Garfield left an impression, not only on me, but a Polish soldier who did his thing at Monte Cassino during WW2.

Isn’t that great, how Poland and cricket were in my house because of Sir Garfield? Thanks again sir.

You’ve got to love sports

Hilarious stuff here.
Contepomi (argy rugby coach) accuses England of "lack of respect" when they played music too loud in the dressing room after England's win.
To put that so-called lack of respect into some context, the Argentinian team had chosen to wear jerseys for this match that were replicas of the '86 football team, in which diminutive genius Maradona cheated his way past England and on to world cup glory.
Very respectful! 😂

I once built a sandcastlegarage when holidaying in Modena.

My building compadre, none other than Spa F1 winner Kimi Antonelli!

His dad said if he or young Kimi ever needed something more grand designed and ereceted, he'd confer with local builders.

Lovely fella.
