From what I can see, Dunk is running up to kick the ball as the whistle is blown meaning there is a split second between the whistle and the ball flying towards the goal. Johnstone is setting the wall up not in position.

Mason should’ve checked that Johnstone was ready, but he didn’t.
 
If he blows the whistle isnt the ball then 'live'? Cant change his mind when it's flying towards the net! If the players ie Johnstone weren't ready, then he shouldn't have blown his whistle in the first place.

Indeed. He shouldn't have blown his whistle. He can change his mind. He did.
 
What a pile of shambles that was from Lee Mason - time for the PL to rip up the contracts of these horrifically bad referees. You can’t just blow the whistle to deliberately stop a team from scoring just as the balls crossing the line when there’s no foul
