OT ’Dedicated Royal Watchers’

I see that with the imminent arrival of yet another heir to the throne that the usual suspects have donned their bizarre Union Jack outfits to camp outside the hospital. I know they do no harm but it seems Sky have ‘christened’ them ‘Dedicated Royal Watchers’. They all look totally ‘barking’ to me and apparently some have been there for weeks...how and why do they do it?

The Royals deserve some attention at the moment. They are discreetly spreading a royal message which goes against anything their ministers are portraying. We have had for many years The Green Prince, but now Prince Harry & The Queen are spreading the Green message plus also concern about The Windrush Generation. Interesting TV programme last week with David Attenborough discussing with The Queen , about The Queen's Commonwealth Tree Canopy.

Royals do no harm and they seem to fascinate a certain sort of person that lives for and feeds on every snippet of celebrity tittle tattle that they can find in their copy of the Daily Mail. To me they mean nothing, I understand one of them is getting married this year - good luck to them but I shall not be watching*. It seems from what rA says that one may be due to whelp - again, news to me, but wish the mother good luck, as I would any would be mother.

I wish them no harm but equally hold no positive feeling towards them whatsoever. They are just another dysfunctional privileged family that does its bit for the tourist industry, so probably pays its way.

However I must say that I could not stand that snivelling cow of a wife to jug ears. I can fully understand why they contrived the accident in Paris (allegedly), if indeed they did. She worked her way into the set up and instantly began to destroy from within, a little like a tapeworm. Still, enough said about my distant cousin

Anyway that's my rant for the day, gawd bless 'em

* A septic, I believe - watch out for Stormy Daniels type revelations and hush money to come.....

The thread was actually asking about the ‘watchers’ though. I knew I was back in England as the news was no longer about the possibility of the temperature falling below 70 degrees, a ‘Deputy’ being shot or the President’s latest lunatic pronouncement about arming school teachers. Instead there was film of, to me, - nutjobs - huddled together in the cold wearing their red, white and blue and waving their flags because yet another Prince/Princess is expected to ‘arrive’. Just don’t get it...makes less sense than a Forest season ticket.

OK, I see. Well I am never going to be a watcher for the reasons outlined above and have no comprehension of the motivation behind those that do. Maybe to try to be their picture in "Hello" magazine or, albeit on a highly unlikely basis, to get on telly?

PS A forest season ticket makes some sense in that you get to see the Rams once a year for free

Did you know that when Marie Antoinette gave birth there were about 200 people in the royal birthing room with her, all after a glimpse. Perhaps these "watchers" are all after a snatched glimpse of royal poonani? For those not wanting to camp out, I believe the actual birth is being shown live on Sky News Channel 8 in ultra HD and again on their +1 channel, so no need to set the DVD recording up.

Thank goodness we do have a Monarchy. I couldn't stand any Stormy Daniels type person sneaking in the back door to have a night in with a Head of State, hoping that if she played her cards right she might become the top lady in the land.

I haven't read the full disclosures, but if Trump was sneaking in the back door with Miss Daniels, then I for one don't blame him

Agreeing with this, for all their quirks and extravangances they are adding value by pushing an agenda/agendas that successive governments have paid lip service to.

If they weren't there they would only be cluttering up some pavement somewhere. Do these people not have jobs?

Yes they really are a green family Daily Express this morning Prince Andrew completes 100,000 air miles equivalent to four times around the world and he's just one of them

Just heard on the radio, the baby is out and called Catherine

This is a public service announcement, just in case anyone is remotely interested.

They are ‘cluttering up some pavement somewhere’ and most of them look unemployable...unless there’s a job somewhere that involves dressing oddly and waving a flag gormlessly, bit like that old bloke used to do for years at all the England matches.

P.S. mista...what are you doing reading the Daily Express? Good God man...I expected better...from you of all people.

ramAnag Don't worry far to right for me No I googled royal air miles and it just happened to be in the Express But nothing in my Daily Worker

That's the flip side of the coin, though the ones who are likely to get their bottoms on the throne are Ok.

I myself would not wave at a Royal parade, although in a strange sort of way these type of gatherings add value to local economies. When the RAF stopped using Woolston Bassett to return military dead, the Local Chamber of Commerce complained that the takings of local restaurants, pubs & cafes were down. If they ever returned the hanging tree to Tyburn it would be a massive boost to the local economy.

You may say this in jest RB but a friend of mine worked in Liberia in the 1970s when Master Sergeant Samuel Doe seized power.

In the aftermath of the revolt there were countless public hangings of political enemies and many of the expat workers were requested to attend. RRequested with extreme prejudice.

At these events you could buy T Shirts featuring screen printed images of the previous week's hanging victims and little wooden model gibbets with dolls dangling therefrom. The local souvenir traders never had it so good.
