Oscar Pistorius charged with murder

Vital Football Legend
Various links on this below, but the first story was that his girlfriend was suprising him for Valentine's Day and he shot her as he thought she was burglar. Now it seems that wasn't an official story, and that there are witnesses that say they had an argument the night before, and there have apparently been previous incidents of domestic violence. Whatever the real story, she is dead and his life and career are probably ruined. Sad story.

An ode for valentines day..

Roses are red, Violets are glorious, Don't try to surprise Oscar Pistorious.

:21:

Ok, I promise last one..

Early reports suggest that the evidence is so over-whelming that Oscar Pistorious murdered his girlfriend, that his lawyer said 'he doesn't have a leg to stand on'..of course, he has brought a whole new meaning to taking your girlfriend out on valentines day...

Her agent has been quoted as saying 'There was so much in the pipeline for her: she was just about to explode into the media." What a great choice of words.

this would have been a better way...

Supposition now is that it was not an accident, neighbours have reported regular major rows and the police have refused bail

shoulda used this

He had already lost his halo by being such a bad loser during the Olympics. This will destroy him completely. We await the full story!

A lot of people in SA say he has a very volatile temper and shortly before the incident neighbours are saying they heard a blazing row. The estate he lives on has state of the art security so the burglary theory is a bit thin...
The fact that someone lost thier life is of more concern to me than the fact OP pulled the trigger...

RIP

Hello mate, yip still here.
It is exactly the same, I think because he was not given bail has made everyone assume he is guilty and the lawyers on the radio this morning basically said someone as high profile as him should of got bail, unless he is banged to rights...
He has a rep as having mood swings of note, no-one is buying the burglar theory due to where he lives. They have 24 hour guards and fingerprint entry into the estate where he lives.
I see he is going to be held in custody at a police station as opposed to a prison, I presume for his own safety....

One of his best mates says this is completely uncharacteristic of him. Does seem odd. If he did mean to do it, it makes him a real cold blooded killer. He must have set it up, premeditated it, if that is the case but time will tell...... you can't prejudge things.

This is starting to sound far from uncharacteristic. If the reports now surfacing about the injuries Ms Steenkamp suffered and the subsequent discovery of a cricket bat covered in her blood are true. I can't help but reflect how quick some where in the rosy glow of an Olympic feel-good factor to paint all para/Olympic athletes as Corinthian wonders; whose impeccable selfless private lives shamed us all. Hell there were people telling me on this forum they couldn't enjoy football anymore because these athletes were so much better. It struck me then as flawed and outright lazy predicated as most of it was on utter ignorance about who and what the participants were(other than what their PR departments told us). In the case of the paralympic athletes it seemed down right fetishistic in many cases. With the media hell bent on turning people previously characterized as sub human into uber human, which willfully and wrongly refused to allow them the simple grace of being just human. Flawed, amazing, angry, loving, hateful, stupid, clever. Just like the rest of us. In Pistorius case all to quickly it became apparent that having no feet did not exempt him from the metaphorical ones of clay we all sometime share. I wish more space had been given to this notion during the month when all Paralympic athletes were demi gods.

All the new theories and "facts" emerging are interesting. The bail hearing is tomorrow, are we likely to hear details there? I'm not really an expert on these things!

I read one theory that he shot her once as she was running away, then she was hiding in fear in the bathroom covering her head with her hands, hence how she got shot in the hand as well. She was in her nightwear and had slept there, so clearly the intruder story is a bunch of bollocks like most people probably thought. Will be interesting to see where the cricket bat fits in. If it was used to beat her, and the stories about her having a crushed skull are true, I assume that happened after the shooting as how could she run away from him if her head had been pulverised?

Reading this morning that another theory is that he was on steroids and he did it in a fit of rage. It seems that he rang his dad and a friend before ringing the paramedics, which is odd if it was an accident.

It's all so revolting and tragic Spursgirl. It just confirms to me why no "civilized" society should allow it's citizens to have guns. And to save the NRA lobby the trouble maybe the answer was an armed Ms Steenkamp.
