Enid Jones, a 58-year-old from Glyndwr Road in Aberystwyth in West Wales, has taken a stand against a new commercial development - including a Tesco store. While 11 of her neighbours have sold up to allow their homes to be demolished, she is flatly refusing.

But why, and does the developer have the right to force a sale?

Interesting one that. Could be standing in the way of jobs etc but then, it is meant to be her property isn't it?!

Be fascinating to see if there is a compulsory purchase put on it.

If she's a nice person she should be allowed to stay! If she's an old bag who steals children's miss-kicked footy shots then she should be forced out!!

There was a guy in china who refused to move so they built the motorway round his house.

not 'round' it, but left the house up and built the road 'around' it.

They should do that here,

'Excuse me, where is the baking soda?'
'Aisle 8, between the gravy and Mrs jones bathroom'

She should tie a load of helium balloons to her house and just float off, but beware of cub scouts on bob-a-job week!

Yes, I've seen that done before Jim. You must have watched the same documentary that I did? True story, there is a film about it.

It also happened in England on the M62 where Stott farm owners refused to move so they built the motorway around it.

Part of the article

The motorway's history has included a coach bombing on 4 February 1974, and a rail crash on 28 February 2001. The motorway is also notable for Stott Hall Farm, a farm in the Pennines situated between the carriageways that has since become one of the best-known sights in West Yorkshire. The M62 has no junctions numbered 1, 2, or 3 (or even an officially numbered 4), because the motorway was intended to start in Liverpool proper, and not on its outskirts.
