So far as I recall East Timor voted for independence from Indonesia on 30-08-1999, but nothing much DCFC related occurred.

Not sure about ‘on this day’ Rog, but in August 1999 we’d just been pasted by NZ in the Test...nothing changes!
Fed up with losing Tests in the first hour of the first day, especially after we win the toss again.
What a turn around. Let Bayliss go now and replace Root as captain imo. That way at least JR can concentrate on being one of the World’s best batsmen again...at the moment he doesn’t even justify a place as a batsmen and for some bizarre reason has decided to screw up the slip fielding by removing himself to where he can chirrup at the bowlers more easily. Bloody senseless!
