Vital Football Legend
Not gonna lie, looking forward to this as Greece is my second home.
Most people know Olympiacos is Maranakis' original team based at Piraeus, the main port at Athens. They are the Man City of Greece replete with various accusations over the years. Their stadium is universally known as 'the brothel' because it is full of whores. They are also known as gavros- the sprats or little fish.
I have never been to their stadium because domestic away fans have been banned for a decade or so because things tend to get a little minty. lucky old us will get to see them unveil their minor European success with the conference cup.
Big shout out to the Tricky Greeks- the dedicated bunch of Greeks that actively follow forest.
They are about a week behind us in terms of preseason preparation and have played some games in Italy. Their last friendly was a 1-1 with Roma.
We have played them twice and lost both times.
Should be a serious test before we entertain owd boremouth.
I think most of us are ambivalent towards Olympiacos and no longer afraid we are just a feeder club. However, while some of the family here support them, the most important ones, including me, support Panathanikos so I will be leading the chants of 'Burn the Port' and hope we fuck them up badly.
