Not gonna lie, looking forward to this as Greece is my second home.

Most people know Olympiacos is Maranakis' original team based at Piraeus, the main port at Athens. They are the Man City of Greece replete with various accusations over the years. Their stadium is universally known as 'the brothel' because it is full of whores. They are also known as gavros- the sprats or little fish.

I have never been to their stadium because domestic away fans have been banned for a decade or so because things tend to get a little minty. lucky old us will get to see them unveil their minor European success with the conference cup.

Big shout out to the Tricky Greeks- the dedicated bunch of Greeks that actively follow forest.

They are about a week behind us in terms of preseason preparation and have played some games in Italy. Their last friendly was a 1-1 with Roma.

We have played them twice and lost both times.

Should be a serious test before we entertain owd boremouth.

I think most of us are ambivalent towards Olympiacos and no longer afraid we are just a feeder club. However, while some of the family here support them, the most important ones, including me, support Panathanikos so I will be leading the chants of 'Burn the Port' and hope we fuck them up badly.

erm should say that I have full respect for Maranakis and what he has done for us, it just doesnt extend to his other teams.

their forum is full of how they are the best team in the world and how much they are looking forward to the first home friendly. fuck em.

They won't be same threat now they don't have Scarpa on loan from us !!!

the Rangers of Greece is what some folk used to say back in the day. They have done well to get through the changing decades and be so sustainable and are a well run club overall financiallly. The conference cup was a fair reward for all us non ucl clubs, poss deserves a bit more esteem than it's given by fifa altho id love to still see a cup winners cup

They are a well run club?

Have they also been subject to liquidation recently.

Do they owe HMRC fucking millions?

So where does the comparison with Glasgows Newco come from?

Awoniyi still incapable of starting a pre-season game. Looks like he's going to need until after the first international break to get going

He may get the second half but we are a week away so I guess it will be Wood for the first game and maybe even until we get a striker in…

I don't think it's that at all.

He's missed enough of pre season that 14 goal Chris Wood is guarenteed to be the starter for the first few, so makes sense to set up around him

The Miguel situation is a little concerning - still want another keeper, Turner getting more minutes and now Miguel not even making squads. Hope it’s injury, but is it that he’s just a bit shit?

Would have been a huge shock if he was ready for EPL

IMO

And I'm not saying that with hindsight

It was weird when we signed him to start with
