Oliver Glasner to be appointed

It's really unusual that Glasner has been in post for over a week now, and we have had no interview with him whatsoever

Marinakis prides himself on his club being like a family. The fan connection to managers since promotion has meant a lot

I know a lot of these opening interviews are just performative nonsense, a necessary ritual where the words mean little to nothing

But even if something is performative, the performance has a purpose.

The harshest and most off putting sound is always silence. Silence can very quickly be perceived as contempt by some people.

The forest feed has put out a lot of content about Dan Ndoye's exploits but nothing about Glasner or helping fans get to know him. I imagine many of us don't even know what he sounds like

I wonder if that is his decision, as I don't think it bodes well if it is, or whether it is some strategy of the club's

I think the club are trying to lay low with it to be honest. They will know it's a controversial move (5 managers, 10 months) and want to avoid the bulk of media criticism.

Both the removal of Pereira and the appointment of Glasner took place under the cover of England games, which has gone a long way to keeping this change from making headlines. Perhaps they feel it isn't the best look to immediately shout it from the rooftops.

I suspect today will be a lot of interviews and all the usual bits about the new manager etc coupled with the players returning. In fairness I don't think we've ever appointed a manager in the close season before, without anyone really being in the building and the players not being in training. That could well be a factor in it.

Why would Marinakis care about any of that?
 
Iraola hasn’t spoken to the media at all yet and he was appointed Liverpool coach weeks and weeks ago

Once I knew that I accepted there was nothing to see. It's a bit shit to have a go once someone has held their hands up to being wrong, but you do you

In my defence, the last summer appointment we made was Sabri Lamouchi in 2019, so I'm a bit out of practice in terms of what is normal for a manager appointed over the summer. Usually our appointments are mid season and start on day one

Yes and yesterday was his first day with the players, so understandable that he might want to get the feel of the place before commenting. His interview seemed quite positive to me.

Yep I liked that alot.

The idea of trying to force our squad into a formation that isn't really ideal for them fills me with utter dread for the season, and that's how the fans have been talking.

For example, Williams is one of the best, most consistent left backs in the country and people want to move him to RB so we can wingback.

tbh I reckon they are same lot who would criticize the fuck out of him if he didn't perform just as well at RWB.

Oh shit. Here he goes again. I made a small light-hearted comment and he flies off on one. The number of times this has happened. It's ridiculous. Oh well. You do you, as you say. I came on to make a comment similar to the last part of your post, so I don't know why you get super-sensitive about things I post. We're not that different on football matters. Oh well.
 
People were commenting about how Pereira was hard done by, but the number of times we've given people too long in the post and we've had to pay two sets of compensation (old manager for terminating the contract, and new manager's former club), this is a club going about things the right way.,

A) how am I supposed to know it is a light hearted comment? Whatever tone you meant does not come through in your words, so I take your words at face value. Seriously, if you are going to go for me, at least have the courage to see it through rather than backing out

B) I didn't fly off on one, I responded to the criticism with an explanation. That explanation had one tiny little bit of criticism of you, and you've then reacted badly to that by claiming I have "flown off the handle"

I suggest leave it there. I'm not arguing with you, I am sure we don't actually think very differently on this and I am excited to actually see the interview when I get home from work

Yeah, I took that as a criticism and if it wasn't then I honestly don't get what you meant
