I would say that talking about the long term shows he has a great sense of humour; he will be the 11th manager since Marinakis took over in May 2017, only one of whom has lasted more than two seasons

The rest of it was the usual guff you get from every new manager, which the Club keep the text of on the teleprompter just in case.

Great history, blah blah blah, 2 European cups, blah, blah blah, passionate supporters....cant wait to meet the players and get started...

I don't expect riveting interviews from Glasner, just some successful football.

Sure. But last season was an anomaly.

Nobody could have predicted Nuno hitting the self-destruct button. He would have gotten the sack at most clubs after behaving that way.

The Ange appointment, in response, was utterly disastrous, as we all know. By which time we were a third into the season, in terrible shape, and chaos breeds chaos.

But while the media love framing EM as trigger happy, he’s actually given a lot of managers time across his clubs.

Forest

9 - Managers.
Longest - Cooper 2 yr 3 mo.
Shortest - Ange 39 days.
Average 13/14 months

Oly

14 managers (17 if include caretakers).
Longest - Pedro Martin 4 years.
Shortest - Victor Sanchez 50 days
Average - 14/15 months

So the chaos of last season has tipped us below the average (16-24 months or so I believe for a premier league manager). But it’s not quite as skewed as the media pile-on would suggest.

Glasner was allegedly Syrianos’ choice 3 years ago and the resources Marinakis is throwing at the guy (plus Glasner’s own track record) suggest that he will be given time.

Obviously there’s a limit to that and we know he will get impatient if we find ourselves in another relegation battle.

But I’m choosing to believe this one will stick. He might not see out his contract but I’m hoping for two full seasons, minimum, before Glasner himself likely jumps ship to a ‘bigger’ club.

Just remember that according to the media and $ky, anything outside the Prem doesn’t count so according to them, Glasner will be our 7th manager as we go into our 5th season…

I guess it’s to be expected but it really pisses me off all this ‘managerial merry go round’ crap. Yes, last season was insane but it’s not like it’s unique to Forest anyway? And we really didn’t want to sack Nuno in the first place. Postecoglou said as much.

Pardew now claiming the high ground with all this ‘Glasner and Marinakis deserve each other’ bollocks. The argument being that EM should never have reported Palace for, err, their completely avoidable fuck-up.

Like, maybe point the finger at your own chairman for being shite and lazy with extremely basic admin?

But I guess it’s more fun and convenient for Palace fans to pretend they’ve somehow been morally wronged.

I certainly wouldn’t pay the slightest bit of attention to comments made by anyone associated with Palace. It was their fuck up that got them kicked out of the Europa League and their lack of ambition that led to Glasner walking.

Cooper lasted 2.5 seasons. On the list above, someone lasted 5 years so it is possible for someone to be able to work with Marinakis.

Whether that is Glasner, time will tell and there is also the question of whether Glasner moves on at some point to a ‘big club’. Emery has seen the need yet so it will all depend on ambitions matching and keeping each other happy.

I wasn’t a fan of how Glasner went public but I could understand his frustrations at losing his best players over and over. As long as he accepts that sometimes we have to sell but will always look to reinvest then that shouldn’t be a problem.

I just can’t wait to see what kind of squad they can build between them…

Yes, having that number of managers in one season is unprecedented, but it will not bother EM one bit or prevent him from repeating it again in the future.

We are now on our 11th manager since EM took over in 2017 - thats 10 managers in his first 9 seasons, with only one of them lasting over 2 seasons.

Have a look at what has happened at Olympiakos since he took over there in 2010 and you will see a similar pattern - 16 full time managers and 8 interim managers in little over 16 years - the current manager is one of their longest serving, being appointed in 2024 - you then have to go back to 2018 to find one that lasted more than 40 games.

EM might set off with the best intentions when it comes to continuity but it takes very little for him to vere off course, and to state that he does not give two fucking hoots about the consequences of his actions is an understatement.

And its not like we are hoping for just one leopard to change his spots; Glasner is a cranky bastard at the best of times and it takes the merest perception of a slight to send him off on one.

It could be that both parties understand that they are running out of options and make a concerted effort to make it work, but you wouldnt bet a fake fiver on the possibility of it happening.
