Looks like the latest international break might prove costly for Aston Villa.

awful that he was only just getting back to slight fitness and he went on international duty and got injured again.

I assume, but don't know, that this is the same ankle that was broken?

amazing we allow our players to go swanning around when they aren't fully fit
ho hum

Suppose it might force Brucie's hand and give O'Hare some playing time
or maybe we'll recall super Rossi ?

nope if fully fit there's no choice - amazing the number of slight niggles and strains some players have which clear up for the next league game though

I think Gabby missed the Internationals through injury (surely) - not sure he'll have recovered for us despite no doubt his very best efforts

:8:

I think the countries still hold the right to ask them to report for duty even if they are injured if they see fit.

Anyway whats done is done.

Surely we had the right to say he's not been fit to play for us, so he's not fit to go on international duty?

Trouble is, I guess you then have an angry player.

He didn't even get to play, it was in training

So right now the only fit strikers at the club are Davis and whoever is in the youth teams. Anyone know how RHM is?

We are 6th in the league and hogan and kodja have scored 1 league goal between them so far. Mcormack may have to come back and other attacking young talent may get a chance. Samba can always fill in as well.

So that’s sorted.... Davis in a 4-5-1 with Grealish as number 10. That’s the system we used against Watford before Grealish got injured. Jedinak to play CB so Samba can come off the bench up front....

As I understand, countries can still invoke that their medical team assess the player if they wish. Ultimately, England have learnt to work with the club's on this, particularly surrounding friendlies.

I don't get the argument that we have done ok without him this season so its not much of a blow.

Short memories as to hiw influential and vital he was last season. He was not at his best but had a serious injury that you dont just get over quickly.

As for the this new setback.
1- why was he there at all when he started the international break injured?
2- yes he got injured in training and he could have been injured training at bodymoor, but without sounding un pc. I would expect that facilities, physio practices, expertise and probably even training methods in the Ivory coast are not as up to the standard we have in english top level football.

Apparently FIFA rules state that the Ivory Coast have the right to call him up and have their own medical staff assess him . If Kodjia wanted which he clearly did there is nothing we can do about it

I understand that SD.

But my concern is whether the Ivory coast medical and physio staff were up to scratch or dealt with him properly and had their agenda to get hims playing at all costs.

Argentina let Messi come home early from Russia and miss the game against Nigeria, which they ultimately lost. Uruguay didn't insist on Suarez turning up for this international break. Thing is, Ivory Coast hadn't qualified for WC 2018, whereas Argentina and Uruguay had. Who knows if it was Ivory Coast or Kodjia himself or both that decided he was ok to travel. Anyway - in the end he ain't playing for Villa [who pay him] for a while and he ain't gonna have to get a visa to Russia either, stuffed by Morroco
