Official and Unofficial January 2023 Transfer Window

Going to be interesting to see what players leave the club after the sacking of the 2 scouts. Wouldn't be surprised to see Scarpa diverted to Oly, or sales of Boly, Lingard, with Lodi and Bade's loans cancelled.
Bowler I hope is recalled, and then let's see if Cooper needs a different style of player or 2 in January. But that's all it would be, 1-2 at the most with more going out the door

I think Bade would stay. Fits the bill more than the others. Just the language barrier at the moment by the sound of it.

I would send back Henderson, loan out Biancone and Awoniyi, cancel Lingard's contract, loan out Cafu (maybe bring him back for the Champ), send back Bade and Lodi and offload Lyle (if he's still at the club).

Just a hunch. I think there may be more than one transfer that nearly got done in the summer getting done in January.

Article from the Athletic. Wasn’t behind any sort of paywall as I read it so am dropping the link here.

Interesting take on the goings on. It reckons that Scott and particularly Syrianos have been made scapegoats despite being involved in less than half of our transfers and those being some of the better ones.

It also suggests that Murphy’s job is still under threat particularly as he is in dispute over a promised pay rise.

There always seems to be a negative story not far away from these people. I wonder if being a small part of the army of journos feeding off scraps these days has anything to do with it?

We know there were issues though otherwise why the sackings?

We know the media love to exaggerate these things but, after 5 straight defeats and with an owner who is known for sacking not just managers but pretty much anyone who annoys him, I don’t believe there was the remotest chance that we weren’t considering Coopers position.

That position is safe for now but two people have been sacked, one has left, another is rumoured to be on the brink and someone else is reported to have changed their mind about joining us.

Again, there is some supposition in there and a degree of rumour but there is also fact. And let’s face it, we have been a basket case of a club for decades so is it really that surprising that we have reverted?

Yes I agree with that but I don't think these lads are averse to telling lies as well. They quote as fact things that they can't possibly " know" and that alone makes me sceptical of their take on the situation behind the scenes.

Josh Bowler not getting game time at Oly under new manager (may feature in Europa Cup tonight) - almost certain to return to UK.

He can only play for Forest or Blackpool (loan back to them - seems most likely) this season and obviously, we have to offload players from 25 man squad for him to fit in here.

Excluding loanees, we have players out of contract this summer - so that may open the door for some to leave - which has to be the primary target.

He's obviously not good enough to play for Oly, so he'll only be good enough to play for us in the Championship.

They do have to be careful though if they want to avoid being forced into retractions or even sued.

In this instance though we know that two have been sacked and one has left. Whether we choose to believe the rest is up to us but whether we do or not, what we know has happened isn’t particularly good. Inevitable perhaps but not what we were hoping for.

Maybe Cooper needs to look at him and see if he is a better option for a squad rejig.
