Good Morning Thread

Great example of atrocious refereeing in RB Leipzig vs Atletico...he gave foul after foul mainly against RB by repeat offenders but no yellow cards until about 75 minutes (except 2 for diving in the box by AM players)...in the meantime, Olmo, offender in chief who shouldn’t have been on the field if his yellow card fouls had been so rewarded, scores a goal for RB...I always had AM marked as a dirty team but RB are one of the dirtiest I have seen for years, and dangerously dirty...like Leeds of old on steroids...this seems to be the direction football is moving in....run round at 90 miles an hour for 90 minutes and kick the shite out of the opposition when they have the ball....hope a football team thrashes them in the next round.

One bright spot was Joao Felix for AM total talent...sign him up.

Afternoon Hod, thanks for that I might well have a search around and see if I can have a test drive in one, impressive stats, thanks again.

I don't think you get the 200 series Landcruiser in the UK. You get the little brother, The Landcruiser Prado...not for me. Much smaller and less luxurious, with a little 4 pot engine.

The proper Landcruiser 200 series has been globally crowned King of the Road, and is also brilliant off road. Can't see me taking it on the beach or through the scrub. Don't want to scratch that pearl white metallic paint.

Good morning all , another hot and sticky night , the weather was hot hot as well !
I think we had a bit of rain , don’t think it was two months worth in ten minutes as the papers were suggesting online . Bloke two doors down was busy in his garage yesterday , sounded like he was building an Ark . !
It’s getting very near Haircut day again , I’m getting very close to my Freddie Boswell look again .View attachment 41361
Think I’ve even got that shirt ! Couldn’t stand that moustache though , would make me look stupid !
Ive got to find a way to put a video on here, from my phone , of the spitfire over our house last year . I keep getting told it’s too big . Story of my life really ! I’d like a pound for every time I’ve heard that ! Ha ha .
Weird how it wasn’t long ago we had phones , cameras , and video cameras , how on earth did we ever carry all that about with us ,
I can remember coming down on a cable car in the Alps , videoing our friend as she ski’d down just below us . She wanted it to show everyone what a good skier she was . It was all working out perfect , I was getting some great video as we seemed to have timed it all perfectly , her coming down behind us , going directly underneath us and then ski ing off in front zig zagging to perfection .......... when I realised as I went to turn it off that I hadn’t pressed the record button !!!!!!!!!! She wasn’t impressed . Oh well , never mind a !
gotta go , coffees don’t make themselves you know , it’s quite pleasant on the patio this morning, Quite a nice temperature, its gone right down to 28 degrees . Positively chilly !
stay safe and uncomplacent and keep the alert levels on high .

Old Freddie Boswell eh.

Loved that show! Was it called Bread????

Define different engine configuration sounds.
I have crackle for 5 pot, growl for V6, Burble for V8. In line 6 is different but I haven't quite come up with a word yet.

I think this car talk is/will be going the way of steam trains over the next 20 years or...by then I guess battery-heads will be talking about Kw power output and specialised electric motors etc...sad, but technology moves on and creates history..

It will when a couple of innovations cure the biggest problem: distance and charging time.

Both look like Tesla and a UK start-up might have them licked, if accurate then the real travel transformation will kick in and the end of carbon fuelled vehicles can finally be properly predicted.

As I now have a business directly related to that outcome - I can't wait!

Quick pollL (just say if you like to see them)

Threads on Golf, Petrol Heads/racing? or just leave the subject to here?

I've been watching Aussie gold hunters during the lock down and am now hooked - sadly that and aussie roadtrains lol! (It's my guilty little secret).

Just can't understand why the Aussie leave so many roads to dirt!?

Go for it EX...always good to talk out frustrations!😷

ok here goes..

Took my daughter down the range last night so she could practice some tweaks her pro has gone through with her this week - big mistake! Watched from next bay, thought I'd try and offer some 'advice' on how to shape her shots with her irons..

You'd have thought I'd tried to murder her!

Lesson no.1. Never try and give lessons to your children beyond a certain age (anyone know that cut off point?)

However, I persevered the more frustrated she got, so showed her how I did it - it's bloody harder than you think to deconstruct your swing and talk someone though it and still make the shot without making yourself look a plank and shanking it !

By sessions end she was hitting and shaping her shots as sweet as a nut and hitting all the targets as I called them out to her (differing clubs of course).

I didn't realise I had gathered a small audience - so much so the pro pulled me and said "I'm the only one authorised to give lessons here, you'll have to go" - I burst out laughing, and told him she was my daughter and he needed to calm down.

He got angry as I kept laughing at him.

Gave me a sideways look, grunted and walked away after making a fool of himself.

But he did wonders for my cache! lol!

Daughter now thinks (once again) that I actually do know something about this game (she forgets I taught her the basics in the first place).

I would have paid him to do that for me!

Stay safe, stay smart, we're not out of the woods yet.

Great story EX...right up there with never try to teach your wife to drive!...cars that is...

Its like watching an episode of Steptoe and Son when Greavesy and Walt start reminiscing over London of Old.
Am I the only one who reads their posts in black and white?
Which one is Steptoe ? I have “visions “‘of how I perceive people on here , Ha ha .
the black and white days ....... not sure we are even allowed to say that anymore , the world is crazy . I just get on with everyone, I love the reminiscing, the world was so much simpler then.
To be honest , I don’t like the world as it is now , to much ridiculousness , .....
Back in the sixties , hardly anyone played golf , nobody had cars with silly shaped engines , beer was served in straight glasses , mixers were free , with bottles of lemonade , tonic etc left on the bar next to the ice bucket , MOT’s could be obtained over the phone for ten bob , and me and Greavsie were shagging all round east London , well I was anyway !!!!
Apart from all that , Good Morning all , what a fiasco they have made of the exam results , how on earth these students are going to get on is anyone’s guess . Why do we even have exams anymore . Seems there is no point and the exam board members can’t even trust the teachers .
just another ridiculous example of our society , then Boris says they can always re sit the exam if they are not happy . They can’t re sit it if they haven’t had an exam in the first place ! Madness
Stay safe , stay alert , don’t play golf ! And keep it all black and white ,. It’s so much simpler and safer ha ha . Take care
