Northampton - Fratton Park - 30th December

Well, another year comes to an end, well, in a footballing sense on Saturday.

Defeat to Shrewsbury sent us into Christmas on a downer. However, we recovered well against Wimbledon on Saturday - admittedly all three points would have been expected against the Dons, which eventually came.

Northampton, another side struggling at the wrong end of the League One table, come to Fratton when a further three point return would be expected, which should it come could be enough to take the Blues into the top six into a play off spot.

So, who is going and what are we expecting?

The Football League have now announced the Match Day officials that will take charge of the game between Portsmouth and Northampton Town this Saturday.

I do not want to say we will win, but I certainly hope Pompey can and do have a positive feeling three points will be gained to end the year on a high.

If we're to seriously challenge for promotion again this season - not something I overly expected going into the season but did hope momentum could be carried forward - then I do feel all three points should be taken from the Cobblers.

Yep, I'm going for a home win. 3-1 maybe even 4-1... perhaps too optimistic though.

I'll make my prediction later, do yours now.

Did Pompey deserve more than the three goals scored against Northampton on Saturday? In many ways it doesn't matter with the most important thing being the three points secured.

End of the day three points was all that mattered... shame we couldn't build on that on New Years Day...
