NO, NO, NO, NO, NOOOOO!

The now word MUST be NO! WE SIMPLY CANNOT ALLOW ANY OF OUR BEST players to be sold. NOW is the time when management and fans and all those who support SPURS to stand together against PL clubs and greedy managers like Mourinho who want to buy their way to the top on the backs of clubs like us who have put together good teams and trained them well and made them succeed. Well, OUR SUCCESS is NOT for sale! LEAVE the likes of Walker and Danny ALONE!

OK I accept that we have bought from other clubs like Southampton and Fulham and we have paid good money for them but for us it was not all about buying our way to the top, it was giving good money to clubs that wanted the cash and were prepared to sell. And thereby hangs the tale..... WE MUST NOT take the cash and lose another season by selling our progress to teams that want to get our progress off us.

WE OPPOSE them on the pitch vehemently, so do our supporters in the stands. NOW ITS TIME FOR MANAGEMENT to so the same and STAND WITH US by maintaining our progress and keeping our good players. AT LEAST if we DO sell players, they should be sold abroad. DON'T HUMILIATE US by selling them to our rivals up the road!

AM I SERIOUS ABOUT THIS? YES. I think you got my drift.

I don't think any of our first teamers are goin anywhere soon. We're a diff club to what we were 3 years ago all players seem to have bought into what we're doing, poch is leading by example he was quick to come out and turn down speculation about the Argentina job and has just done the same re Barcelona. I truly believe he is building something special here and will want to keep the current crop together unless he deems them surplus to requirements they will only b sold if poch wants them sold

I think Pochettino is different to other managers we have had. I think he would stand up to the board more to keep his team players but there comes a time where big money, the kind Man U may have, where a board may cave in and say 'sell'.

It won't hurt for fans to scream 'NO' in our situation and if we all emphasise the point that this winning side MUST KEEP our crop of players, the successful ones that is, then management may get the point that this club is here for the fans.

The board will not give a shit about what us fans want.
If they decide to cash in, they will sell them.
To be honest most of us Spurs fans will still be spurs fans if they sell our jewels and the new stadium will still get full.
They have us by the short and curlies
And we all stayed loyal when Berba Moders and Bale went.

I think things are different with the board these days and I believe they WILL think differently now thanks to Levy who I believe has the club at heart. Whether that translates into not selling players and ignoring some of the profit issues now, I don't know. But they can't break up progress any more, we can't let them. While I trust them more Greavsie, we can never be sure in this world. At least we can express our feelings about it and be strong on the issue.

Although I agree we must keep our best players, we must also buy better players. Players like Sissoko, Janssen are not good enough for a club challenging for a title on a regular basis.

As I've said elsewhere RD, our squad problems this season are exactly the same as last season and the season before that, defence and DM players coming in are great, and we have excellent depth, but none of the attacking players brought in have solved anything, proved any sort of real competition for a starting place and we look weak when they start.

Someone with a real eye and feel for attacking play is needed on the buying front before we waste anymore money on upfront duds.

I think N'kou will come good. He has at least shown some good qualities. Pace, can cross a ball, is positive when he has the ball. Works hard.

We need another striker even if Janssen comes good.

Yes.

This is a big question and issue for us now, though, no doubt about it. To have seen off the two clubs most based on nothing more than money, and in the great way we did at that, does suggest it is crunch, or close to it, time for us. What with those great attendances at Wembley, the magnificent new stadium and the very strong core of players we have now, we probably have two. maybe three seasons to deliver something big, along the lines of the Premier League title or even European winners, either the Championship or Europa League. Even this season, you could argue our winning either the Europa or the F.A. Cup final (or both), not to mention the league, is a statement we do need to make. I don't mean all three now - chance would be a fine thing - but if we don't win something soon, new stadium or not, we're going to start losing our top players.

Well said, Cliffy. We need your Antipodean 'get up and go' on this issue to boost our resolve. I think as you say, we could well win the Europa Cup, FA Cup and the League, WHY NOT ALL 3? WE ARE getting better, our results are showing that we have determination against teams like the Chavs. WOULDN'T that cause a stir in the UK and around the world if we did a treble? The only thing is, if we did that the clubs would then want our Manager. But we can face that later.
A great song around the terraces?
"DO DO DO the Treble, DO DO DO the treble, We're Tottenham, we're Tottenham
Lets just do the treble, DO DO DO THE TREBLE.

you get the idea.......

If you look at the news now, you will probably see that the board and Levy have upped the anti on the wages question and agreed to give our best players more money to keep them here, which is a great boost to fans.

This one of those reports in the press:

"Harry Kane and Hugo Lloris have joined the £100,000 club at Spurs, and although Alli is just 20-years-old, he could cause Levy to push his wage bill up even further.

The Mail report that Spurs are happy that they have the financial clout to convince their big names to stay, but of course, they also need to match that with success on the pitch.

Mauricio Pochettino is keen that Spurs prove themselves as a club who are building for the future. While in the past, stars like Gareth Bale, Dimitar Berbatov, and Luka Modric have all moved on, they are determined that this time the project will be different, even if it’s going to cost them huge weekly salaries to do so."

JUST A LATE EXTRA THOUGHT......... If we are spending a lot more on wages, can anyone see us buying in much this transfer window?

It DOES look like the board are looking to bring someone in, probably a striker, and I hope that is so but we've only finite funds, can we afford to buy much?

We are rapidly getting to the stage where your M.U. of this world will not be able to simply step in ans by our best players.
I read somewhere recently that Levy is not opposed to paying £150k a week to the right player, I fully expect that if Dele and Kane continue to perform they will be on that in 18 months.
I can see Levy offering them new contracts again in the summer, people slag Levy but for me he is handling the situation perfectly.
Posters continually say he is only interested in money, but ignore that Berbatov, Modric and Bale all went on strike to force a move. Levy could have got more money from Chelski for Modders and from M.U. for Bale but would not sell to a rival, yet apparently he's only interested in money!

The last 18 months, most have acknowledged Levy has delivered in terms of keeping our best players and offering them good/very good wages. That is one area he really has improved on.

He has finally found a manager he can work with long term as well. Great.

We have a world class training ground, we will have a world class stadium in 18 months from now, We are paying near the top end of the wages. So he deserves credit for all of that.

However he/ENIC, still have only won 1 trophy in 16 years. So you have to look at reasons why. And yes he and Lewis over the years have been tight as hell. The evidence is there in our transfer history net spend.

Selling our best players was never the only issue. Players come an go. The problems were we never signed good enough players to replace the players we sold. We never paid the wages, or transfer fee's even though we could have afforded to pay that bit more. We have had numerous opportunities over the years to sign better players, when we were building a top team. The Harry team being a great example. But we didn't ,we stood still. Your better players will then want to move.

Again this is an area he has improved with. This summer he gave Poch some good money. Poch just didn't sign good enough players with that money.

The amount of money the club now generates. We are a top 10 club in terms of finances.

Two things need to happen if we are to join the best teams on a regular basis. We need to win trophies, and we need to sign higher calibre players. If he starts doing this with the other good work he has done then we will be onto a winner.

No arguments from me.

Great post RD. The trophy issue is huge. Trophies will help boost commercial revenues because BIG sponsors like to be associated with winners.

Commercial revenues are where the teams above us financially dwarf us. It is the next step.

We now have the Nike deal. We now need DHL or Chevrolet sized sponsorships.

Good post RD. Finally we are joining the big boys. Its been a long time coming and the best bit is, teams are afraid of us. They know they are going to get a hell of a game and battle. The days of us being pushovers are long gone.

We are worth £704m and are 10th place in the rich list. The gooners are 5th, and are worth £1.4B. It is a big gap, but with some good deals we can close that gap over the next decade. Our commercial team needs to get the right deals. The Nike one is a great step forward. This is a real sign of getting our shit together.

It will probably take another 5-7 years to get near them financially, but with the new stadium and new naming rights we should close that gap most seasons once we move in.

Juve are only just ahead of us in the finance department, so that is a good sign.

The top 4 are light years ahead. But they have been winning trophies for decades so it would be unrealistic to think we can get near them anytime soon.
