Nmecha to step up

When one door closes, another one opens.......

With City baulking at Leicester City's inflated valuation of Riyad Mahrez and with City's injury list lengthening game by attritional game, Pep Guardiola has looked inside the club and promoted Lukas Nmecha to the first team squad.

"We have just three strikers plus Brahim [Diaz] and Lukas Nmecha," said Guardiola.

"From now on Lukas will train with us for the season. It is not enough but Gabriel [Jesus] is coming back soon - I don't know when exactly."

Opportunity knocks for the promising youngster who cooly slotted home a penalty in City's EFL Cup win over, ironically, Leicester City. With Sane likely to be absent until well into March and City still fighting on all four trophy fronts there could be some game time for Nmecha to shine.

The calibre of City's first team squad leaves little room for talented EDS lads to gain senior experience and so when a chance arises you have to seize it. We have already seen signs that both Foden and Diaz are capable of making the step up........now the time has come to see if Hamburg born Nmecha can follow them and make an impression.

Fingers crossed for the lad,
I think his style and size offers us something a bit different up top.
