N'koudo's peformance against PSG

As I hope he might this season against PSG he' looked like the real deal to me....

He may well play a big part this season.

fingers crossed :10:

I've been banging the drum for a while since I read that interview with him last season - where he said he joined thinking he was the real deal and soon learnt how much he had to do to get there. He said in it that he felt that by the coming season, he hoped to be ready and fighting for a first team place, and I genuinely think from what we've seen he has the ability, but will now have the discipline.

As an extension, I like to think the same can be said about Janssen this year. If both really do come good they will be the two new signings in key areas that we really need.

Watching the little cameos N'k put in last year you could see a player with talent, and I would have liked to see more of him.

On Saturday against PSG I thought he looked lively and made a couple of howlers, but I read that he 'owned' Alves. Didn't strike me that way.

Even having him as a genuine option from the bench would be a plus for this season, we are in dire need of someone with a burst of pace and skill to their game to come on and threaten tired defenders. We have done well to dominate games last season but if any of our forward players suffer from fatigue or bad form we are in serious danger of seeing narrow 2-1 and 1-0 wins turn into draws or losses. He looks to have bags of pace so if we can get him coming on for half an hour regularly and see what he can do with a view to bringing him into a bigger rotation role later on, it would really change the dynamic of our bench, especially if Lamela returns, would really bolster the flanks.

Can't say I was too impressed, played similar to what we say of him last season, has lots of pace but doesn't seem to do much with it. He certainly has potential but I'm sure we have players in our youth team with similar qualities.

He looks like he has definitely toughened up since he first joined us. A confident N'Koudou could be a real asset to us but he needs game time to get to that point. He has pace, he has the drive to go at defenders, he has the flair to win those 1v1's and we have seen glimpses of him having a decent final ball.

I didn't watch the game closely enough to say whether he 'owned' Alves or not but I'd like to see him up against someone like Walker. The Man City game could be a good moment for him to show what he can bring to the table.

He will be fine. His interview at the end of last season showed he understood what it takes to be accepted by the players of this club. If he has truly made that commitment he has the raw talent to convert to an important part of the squad.

he did ok, a little nervy at times, but once again showed that even the best backs hate playing against attackers with genuine pace - if he can add some composure to his game - which may only come with game time, my bet is he'll have an impact next season.

With Lamela out injured, Son not quite ready, N'Kou is next in line. He has to step up when given a chance.

Nice assist last night for Janssen goal, lots of people raving about him but I'm still not convinced, he's got talent but at the moment he's nowhere near ready for our first team, not a bad option to bring from the bench though.

Someone I was massively impressed with was Anthony Georgiou, played 45 minutes and was our best player by a mile, every cross he put in was a threat, think we will see more of him this season.

In the post season tour in Asia it was Kazaiah Sterling that was stealing the headlines in one of the games. Now its a cameo from Anthony Georgiou.

There's a lot of difference between that and contributing to the first team regularly. That's what N'Koudou, Walker-Peters and Onomah and the rest of them are having to learn bit by bit under Poch.

Will be interesting to see which ones can make the step up.

Agreed, they've all got something to prove before Poch trusts them completely.

Everyone was impressed by Oduwa in preseason and he earned rave reviews - then he was loaned out then sold to a Slovenian team.

I do question Poch's handling of Onomah though. The lad just doesn't look at ease in the positions he gets played in. You do feel that he could all of a sudden turn into the player we've been promised but at the moment it just feels miles away.

I get it, there are two interpretations; one is that they've been broadening his experience by getting him to play different positions (remember Rose started and played left wing, Centre midfield, right wing and then Left back over his three pre-break through seasons) and perhaps the other is that they are still not wholly convinced he has what it takes to step up and be the player they think he could be i.e. an Attacking Centre midfielder.

As for Oduwa, bottom line is he pissed of the wrong people, but made his own decision and went abroad - that takes balls, and I still hope it works out for him.

The key is patience; I'd still strongly prefer to see him go out on loan for a full season - and if they have any sense that's what I'd do - at the end of it, we'll know - just as we knew with Rose, Walker, Kane etc

Have always liked the look of him. He gives us something we don't currently have. Would love to see him given a run in the team.
