Nigel Lawson, leading Brexit campaigner.........

Was he a leading campaigner? I didn't realise he was part of the Brexit team until I googled it just now.

And he was campaigning against the political institution that is the EU and not against the individual countries within.

He is applying for a residency permit and not citizenship which is a completely different kettle of fish. It would be hypocritical if he was applying for a French passport, but it is likely he would need to apply for a residency permit post-Brexit anyway. Considering his age, Lawson will probably be dead before Brexit goes through.
 
I can honestly say that I did not see an article, a video clip or any other sign of Nigel Lawson's existence during the referendum campaign. "Leading Brexit campaigner" might be a bit of a stretch.

I was quite surprised to find out that 20 UK MEPs lead by the single Liberal MEP, have a monthly meeting with Guy Verhofstadt to discuss the best way of thwarting and disrupting Brexit.
Talk about doing the other sides job for them.
What with that and the 'man of the people' George Soros funding a new Anti Democratic movement, it make me wonder what the world is coming to.
 
Soros is just trying to preserve the status quo.
That's how they stay so rich.

The irony is that most of the extreme left are very anti EU (Corbyn & McDonnell for a start)
I quite like some of Corbyn's policies and don't like others.
For him to push through his brand of politics, it can only be done outside of the constraints of the EU.

Soros, and others are trying to change his mind. I don't fancy their chances. He has stood on an anti EU mandate for his entire political career.
Maybe they can depose him, but I doubt it since Milliband changed the voting system.

The only serious option left is for a campaign group to start a ' rejoin the EU' party . They will have nearly four years to get organised and fight the 2022 election on that platform.
With money behind them like Soros has, it shouldn't be too difficult.
However, the hard sell will be the Euro, Schengen and the loss of the UK rebate.

Not sure why you would use the word Quisling - a Scandinavian word used in English to identify those who collaborate with occupying forces notably in Norway in WW2 or as VG would to-day. Remoaners as you put it, represent 48% of the referendum result and can't be ignored. Still let's do business with the USA and engage in a trade war, which we couldn't win, as before, without the clout of the EU.

As with motives for Robinson's arrest, where you were soundly put in your place as regards your theories. Soros is financier, philanthropist – and hate figure of the far right. He's a hate figure not because he's funding the left, which is not true, but because he promotes human rights and democracy in former Eastern bloc countries; he's become a hate figure of neo-nazi nationalist leaders in the likes of Hungary - your mates VG. You forgot to mention how he bet against sterling , became a billionaire , and forced Britain out of the European Exchange Mechanism. Only a small detail , so I can understand how you forgot.

How can you swear an oath to queen and country and then be willing to warmly welcome the far right to our shores? Your oath was very misguided in hindsight. You visit war graves of troops killed by imperial German soldiers and later nazis and yet you would welcome them to run the UK and rid us of the scourge of muslims and, now, the jew Soros. Or maybe they were German war graves.

Some of us are / were involved in securing and guarding our borders.
Millions of pounds are being spent.
Don't worry about reality , normal folk are waking up. Trouble is , in UK there is almost an atmosphere of fear. Nowadays we have to worry about what we say. Somebody overhearing , could report them.

This is not about the 'far right' or ' Nazi' , as Wayne likes to use.

It's about British folk being sick of the shutting down free speech , constant left wing pressure to stop us leaving.
These people do not respect free speech.
Soros sponsors actions around the world , to agitate , he can keep the fcuk out of British politics.

Soros did not force us out of the ERM; he merely profited from it, which is good business. We joined the ERM years after we should have done to benefit but with very high inflation and interest rates of 15% [neither the fault of Soros but Thatcher's policies] the UK's position in the mechanism was not sustainable. Of course you would point the finger at Soros because your nazi buddies say you should but, at least, get your facts right about the ERM.
