Newark Show. Saturday Potential traffic chaos A46/A1

A repeat warning for anyone travelling to Lincoln via the A46 and the Newark area on Saturday. There is likely to be chaos on and around the Newark bypass, because of the Nottinghamshire County Show, and particularly at the A1/A46 junction. The showground is off the A46, on the Lincoln side of Newark.

May need to avoid the whole area, or at least check your Sat Nav.

Exeter fans should take note.

Anyone coming up the A1 from the south can come off at Colsterworth, and head for Lincoln via Ancaster (B6403 High Dike), which is often quicker anyway.
 
There was an accident there yesterday I think - must have been mayhem after that. And one on Wed on the bypass at the A57 roundabout.

It amazes me how many people can't drive in perfect conditions without crashing in to other people/things.

Often think the same mate, especially as someone who uses the bypass everyday for work but gets cut up most days by lorry drivers this morning being no exception as an absolute monster juggernaut pulled out on me ! Thank god I guessed what he was up to not far from riseholme roundabout must have missed his turning as he went back down the bypass towards the carholme roundabout....
 
We use the free bus travel from birchwood every Saturday home game, last week was very quick 25 minutes for getting on until we got off on Dixon street. Some weeks it can an hour however...

Having driven in a fair few European countries and also the US and Canada I can attest to the *average* better skill of UK drivers on motorways...
 
Tell me about it - I commute from Burton Waters to Sheffied and yesterday took 2.5 hours to get home due to A1 issues, and then the same again this morning. Two days on the bounce - Pleased to be going on holiday tomorrow, but going to be difficult to watch the footie, but I have a cunning plan!
 
As this seems to be a traffic update link it seems that the M1 will be shut at Junction 23A-24 from Friday to Sunday. This is the East Midlands Airport/Nottingham South bit so anyone coming from this part of the country needs to avoid this area completely

Thats going to be fun for the travelling Exeter massive.
 
Also the Lincoln Sportive / Grand Prix this weekend might make things busier coming from north of Lincoln.
 
I'm driving up from Bristol. J21 looks restricted as well. I usually come through Newark. Leaving in half an hour but not convinced that six hours will be enough for this three hour journey.

Basically I need a helicopter!
 
Nah! Was in Lincoln by 12.30. Had to go south of Newark as A46 was full but ended up going past the showground near Coddington and it was fine.
