Love it, but surely Dancing Queen or something would have been better!?

But agreed, never thought about it before, but totally not enough singing in politics! LOL

France have just legalised it too, its causing huge protests and riots in Paris.
Riots?
Riot Police maybe, but not really Riots.

Anyway, it's right wing extremists organising the protests, so they don't count really.
Thought James had been quiet on here today. :17:

EVERYTHING causes huge protests and riots in Paris, it's what the French do best.

Sorry to disappoint you GT, there is NO rioting in Paris. But there are protests and demos AGAINST homophobia. Go and shit-stir somewhere else.

I would say 99.95% of those against the bill passing here were motivated by religious reasons.

Every day in the comments section one of the main online news websites you would read the same ridiculous arguments like "What's next? Will I be able to marry my horse soon?" :13:

The best comment I read was along the lines of "As a married heterosexual male I believe Gay people have the right to be miserable just like the rest of us." :59:

I actually read a poem at a gay wedding just before Xmas I'll have you know. It was arguably the best wedding I've ever been too, better even that David and elton's.

I dont think anybody is actually doing the organising, Frigide Barjot is a visible figure but she isnt organising anything. All walks of life including women and children are involved in opposing the decision imposed onto society in France by a Socialist-majority Assembly.

This is the problem with pro gay, they assume its all right wing extremists but in fact many people just want normal family values.

Claire Baron, 41, a mother of two, said that she “will oppose the bill until the end.”

“I’ll keep going to the protests, I don’t give in. The bill is not effective yet, the president of the Republic must listen to our voices. We are here to defend family values. Children need a mom and a dad,” Baron said.

One of the biggest protests against same-sex marriage drew together hundreds of thousands of people bused in from the French provinces - conservative activists, schoolchildren with their parents, retirees, priests and others.

Recent opinion polls show that a majority –between 53% and 58%– of people in France support gay marriage.

According to Yves-Marie Cann, of the French polling firm CSA, those figures have remained constant throughout months of controversy. However, he noted that the number of people against adoption by same-sex couples has risen in recent months, with 56% now opposed to the measure.

She does understand that gay people can't actually have kids, right?

Right wing extremist groups were responsible for the protests leading up to the bill, and the most extreme ones around the time of the Vote.

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/europe/relief-in-parliament-contrasts-with-ugly-street-battles-as-rightwing-protest-turns-violent-after-french-gay-marriage-law-clears-last-hurdle-8584957.html

"Claire Baron, 41, a mother of two, said that she “will oppose the bill until the end.” "

Does this mean she isn't far Right in persuasion? Just because she has 2 kids?

Saurat lives in France. i think he knows more than most. He's right, in that the French do like a protest. It is also one of the most Right wing Countries in Europe.

Stuck in the Darkk Ages? You bet ya.
