New York City 'bottom ' of the table

Now I'm not that good at MLS and its workings, but I seen SSN this morning and NYCFC are bottom of their respective table,(Eastern Conference) with 8 points and 13 games played, but Montreal is 2nd bottom with only 8 games played but same number of points? But all the other teams have played games between 11 and 13 each,

So surely Montreal should be bottom by not playing the same amount of games, perhaps our American fans can educate me cos I cant figure it out,
So help us out Philly, please its doing my head in'...lol

and questions are possibly being asked in Abu Dhabi too no doubt.....

Montreal does have a better goal difference.

And while I'm sure the owners can't be thrilled with the results so far, it's MLS, which is a franchise-based system. NYCFC can finish bottom for 10 years running and remain in the league. There is also a playoff system, so a team can be the fifth best in their conference and still win the title.

Any hopes of a single-table format can probably be forgotten. The MLS commissioner loves the playoff format and has said it will remain in place for the foreseeable future.

So none of the 2 conferences mix, apart from the' final' as in NFL and the Super bowl?

Is that what's called the MLS cup, or am I totally wrong,

And if stories are to be believed NYCFC are signing Pirlo according to press reports...... so they have Lampard, Villa and "Now" Pirlo so they Shouldn't be bottom for long........

I know the play off system generates excitement and frission to the end of the season as it does in the rugby Premiership but I have to say that I am not a fan.

The league should be about a team's ability to deliver consistency over the WHOLE season, to show you can sustain a challenge throughout 38 games rather than by winning an end of season mini-league which could see you finish 17 points behind the top team as the rags did and yet still be crowned champions.

City didn't deliver that consistency last season. The wobble after New Year put paid to that and we did not deserve to win the league. Fair enough. The rags or whoever finished 3rd or 4th certainly don't IMO deserve another punt at achieving something they failed to do over 38 games.
