Tottenham reportedly hold conversation with Rangnick over potential club roles

Tottenham have reportedly held talks with former RB Leipzig manager Ralf Rangnick over taking up a potential position with the club.
According to the Guardian, Spurs have had a conversation with Rangnick as their hunt for Jose Mourinho’s successor continues, though it is unclear if the north London club discussed with the 62-year-old German coach taking over the role as manager or a director’s position.

Rangnick is currently head of sport and development for Red Bull’s collection of clubs across the world, with the former Hoffenheim manager widely regarded as one of the top sporting directors in football as well as a key reason behind the organisation’s impressively ran operation in multiple countries.
As reported by the Athletic, Daniel Levy is interested in appointing a sporting director as well as a manager who can take over Spurs for the long term. The position has been vacant for almost six years since the departure of Franco Baldini in 2015.
Since Mourinho’s departure, Rangnick has been a name that has come up frequently in reports on potential managerial targets for a new Tottenham manager, though the 62-year-old has not managed a game of football since 2019 with Leipzig, a club he was head coach at for four years.

Despite being out of the managerial game for almost two years, Rangnick could be an ideal choice to take over both Mourinho’s former role with Spurs as well as the position of some kind of director with Tottenham.
The north London side lack a clear vision for the future, with the future of Harry Kane uncertain and European football this season still a 50/50 outcome, yet under Rangnick, Tottenham could transform overnight into one of the best run clubs in Europe and a team with real potential the likes of which hasn’t been since Mauricio Pochettino’s peak years with Spurs.
