To some extent I agree VOTN. The Royals have always been in the media by the very nature of whom they are, so I don't hold with them being career celebrities. I remember my Mom's scrapbooks of the Royal Family from when I was a little. The Royals were always the 1's who had the status.
I agree when Diana died the nation changed. The sheer outpouring of grief (of which my family also took part) because we were all so upset was the start of the change.
Like anything when things change, there is always an up and down side to it. The nation mourned and it changed the very stiff upper lip of the British. Good or bad? In my opinion taking down some of the walls was no bad thing. Like anything there is a time when it can go to far. It really is what people do.
I also think with 7/24 media we are going to know far too much because the news needs to be filled. I think to some extent it couldn't break like this before because we didn't have the 24/7 news.
I mean look at 9/11: We seen it has it happened with the 2nd plane. I walked into my friend house as they were showing the first plane going in.
Yes ofcourse there are babies being born everyday as there are people dieing everyday. We have a RIP thread and we can't put every name in there of people who die, so the difference is?
The difference is how much it interests you?
I personally have been through some very extreme times emotionally with the Royal family. I went through years of loathing after Diana died, like most. Then at some stage for whatever reason I started to mellow as I started to see things differently.
Love or loathe Diana (and most loved her) she bought about needed change in the monarchy, especially in her death. Also the monarchy only survived because of her boys.
Anyway to finish it is news. I am pleased for them. It is nice to get happy news. Wonder where the name Diana and indeed Charlotte/Chantelle (female versions of Charles) will appear in the names
