New Manager

I'm thinking of putting myself forward as Chief Inquisitor in the forthcoming search for a new manager at the Club. I have a list of pertinent questions for applicants and a plan for deciding whether or not the applicants will be suitable. Anyone willing to second me?
 
It appears, to me, that Raj has stepped back and the decisions relating to managerial appointment / retention is being made by the "Board". On that basis I can only assume that Lennie was responsible for the whole Sarll debacle - including the KP none appointment.
This, if accurate, doesn't bode well for the next management recruit.
 
Depressing times, OP.
I must have missed information about this Board, but I fear the worst. We all know what objects designed by a committee look like.
 
I don't think it will make much difference who choses the next manager because it will be anybody's guess who to pick. Those that apply will either be journeymen who've been round the block several times and sacked more than once or somebody with little or no experience.

Personally I'd go for the latter and hope. After all Cloughie had no real experience before he came to Pools. Phillips was more or less the same and showed some promise. The 7 goal thrashing could have been a learning experience.

Hope for the best as usual and probably be disappointed as usual but please not somebody from the second or third tier of Scottish or Welsh leagues.

So would I. But I think it needn't be a complete shot in the dark.

Imagine a company that's hitting hard times, who are aiming to recruit a manager that will turn them round. Wouldn't they expect interviewees to have acquainted themselves with the company's recent history, to have identified the trouble spots and to have a reliable-sounding plan for putting things right?

The football world is in the dinosaur age as regards recruitment.
 
Jurassic park instead of Victoria park, has a bit of a ring to it, sponsored by Prestige too, with Lenny in charge it all somehow fits together.

Not bothered whether it is a young, inexperienced, or older manager who eventually gets the job as Pools manager.
What must be considered is the style of football we can expect - Poolies don't like the hoofball / longball game - coupled with a personality that appeals to the Hartlepudlian ethos (whatever that is?). These, i feel, were issues from the outset with Mr Sarll.

Reading between the lines in LL's prematch interview for Saturday, I'm guessing the new manager appiontment will be hoped for in the 2 week break due to no FA Cup involvement.
 
Might be waiting on the outcome of a certain FA cup game which may well decide the fate of a man struggling to change the fortunes of a ‘current’ league 2 side. Not saying he is in our sights but the next 3 games may well see him caught in the cross hairs of his present employer.

You could be correct in your assessment Billy2, however from Lennie's recent interviews I'm inclined towards the appointment of a former player and coach who recently left for pastures new!
 
From what he’s saying he knows what’s wrong and how to fix it, personality wise. No mention of “meritocracy” or “contestation” and he never mentioned the ‘g’ word. He knows what it needs and he’s not one to fly by the seat of his pants, he does his homework and I think he’ll steady the ship.

It's gone quiet at Vic Park regarding the search for a new manager / first team coach.
Does this indicate that Lennie is to be in charge for the remainder of the season? I don't have a problem if this is the scenario, but Lennie will need someone to assist him, full-time, with the coaching.

He has steadied the ship and I think Saturday will influence decision making.
York are top of the pile, unbeaten in the league since August bank holiday, won 8 of the last 11, drawing 3. On paper [stats] formidable opponents for a fragile, transitioning pools however this is pools and football is not played on paper, so any outcome is likely.

If we take a paggering, knee jerk reaction would be to replace him. If we draw he lives to fight another day. If we win he is the saviour, Ronnie Moore 2.0 and the ship sails on. The York game will be a good yardstick.

Hmmn! indeed. Like you OP I'll certainly give them a chance.

It sounds expensive which I suppose shows ambition so can't complain at that but I do hope they all get on together. Limbrick has won the Cymru Premier and Welsh Cup in 2022. We've heard that before and it didn't end well.

At this early stage looks like a hybrid model of Craig Harrison and Darren Sarll with Featherstone being the token sweetener to keep the locals happy. What happened to LL steering Raj down the ‘keep it local to the north east’ route?
Think Lennie may have made an already tough gig a bit tougher. Makes tomorrow’s game or at least the outcome a lot more interesting.
