New deal for Yaya?

Reports in Spain saying Pep has endorsed talks on a new contract for Yaya.

Supposing this is true

Good idea or bad idea?

Not reading much into myself - looks like a fairly obvious bit of specubollox, but, yes, if he can maintain this form, he's definitely worth another short term contract. by all accounts he's also working well mentoring the kids too, so would be worth keeping him around for that alone

Yes but not what he is on now - I hope that Zaba gets a new one, but if not then I hope he stays here in England or Scotland

??? Always have big doubts when talking of another year etc for Yaya.
No problem with it at all if I thought he was going to give it his all as he is doing now, but again, Yaya can go off the boil as experience has shown us.

I know what you mean, Ozi but look how he has knuckled down. He hasn't put a foot wrong and I can't believe how different he looks now he's much trimmer and fitter. Also, he's back in the CL squad. He wouldn't throw all that away now, would he?

i suppose the argument is that he's out of contract at the end of the season, so is only stepping up until he gets a new one :048:

I suppose that is a possibility, but I still think he's worth a punt for another 12 months.

I agree, though the cynic in me always expects Mr Kipling to rear his exceedingly selfish head

Get rid. He's been a loyal servant and won many a game, almost single handed but I can't see him fitting in with Pep's plans for next season. As far as I can see Pep wants youth and his own team of players, Yaya doesn't fit in with either.

I do like Yaya but I think his agent has blown it for him. Adiós i'm afraid.

I think he fits very well in a team that Pep wants to 'control possession'. Yaya appears to have 'bought into' what Pep wants

Yep, essentially the question is, do you trust him?

Any new deal would have to be a reduced wage too.
