He's signed a new deal that takes his contract to 2022.

He's earned it this season.

Well deserved. Looking forward to seeing whether he can take his game to a new level this season.

He's going to be our number 1 RB next season with KWP his back up, it's so obvious :10:

In big games would you play Dier or KWP at RB if Tripps is injured ?

Just the thought of that is making me nervous, in fact Trippier playing in big games is bad enough lol

Really? Trip was excellent in all our big games at the end of last season. He really did up his game. It will be interesting to see how well KWP does during pre-season because the most important thing will be to keep Trip working hard and the only way to do that is to have decent competition pushing him.

I hope KWP steps up, personally, but Pereira would be our best option for a 2nd RWB.

Trippier struggled against the gooners at the lane so it has a few fans worried. To be fair he doesn't have much experience against the top level players. So it is big risk if he is our number 1 RB/RWB next season. I rate him highly as well.

Anyway he deserves a his new contract.

And against Man Utd, got tore apart by Martial all game.

I rate him as well, he's a good player and a solid back up/squad player but I ain't getting fooled into thinking 'he's as good as Walker' just because he made a few assists (against Hull & Watford)
I've said it loads of times before but he's good against the lesser teams where we have lots of possession and he can whip balls in but against the better teams (especially CL teams) he will be exposed, we need someone with more pace to have the option to change things.

To be fair Scotty Walker got skinned plenty of time himself. I saw many a wide man over the last few years take him to the cleaners. Zaha, Townsend, Montreo, Sanchez, Redmond. He was far from perfect.

Agreed we need a pacey wing back. That is what the system demands and with playing at Wembley we must sign an alternative.

Of course players have bad days and Walker had a fair few for us over the years but in the last year or 2 I really can't remember any from him, certainly none that stick out anyway. Which is why Man City payed big for him.

Pereira has gone quiet, he seemed like the perfect replacement going by what I saw of him.

I wonder if Trippier will play for England in front of Walker as he now will get more playing and development time.

Everything will depend on who else they sign, if they do get Danilio from RM - then he'll want playing guarantees, in which case he's going to have to up his game to a whole new level to push him aside.
