Nelson Mandela

One of the 20th century's most important leaders.

His achievements, far outweigh the brutal treatment he was submitted to, by white South Africa.

The greatest moral leader of our time...if not of all time. One of my heroes.

His place in history is assured. Turned his organisation and his back on violence and won the day with the weight of his moral superiority - a man who's reputation will live on long after we're all gone and will be studied for hundreds of years.

RIP.

Terrific guy, what a tremendous personal attitude to his opponents. I have watched 'Invictus' many times because it shows his character so well. The guy was one of the most forgiving people and a great advertisement for treating your defeated enemy the right way that I have ever read about. He never lost any support with his fantastic stance and his fairness on both sides.

What he achieved in terms of uniting a nation was incredible. It was a task that was almost impossible but it's been done, so what does that say? If we ever let apartheid happen again, we need stringing up.

What is also good is that so many have learnt from the guy, politicians, governments AND the man in the street.

It was obvious that the guy was going downhill in his health and the end came peacefully, which for me was great. He was a great example. I for one won't forget him. RIP.

Fuck 'Invictus', shite movie. Nothing like him.
More Holiwood-spunk.
The man was a legend. Not a cheap photo-grab (which seems to be the banal fad right ow with everyone and their dog posting photos of them and him).
Sad.

I was thinking the other day that he must have been the most photographed man in the world ,and certainly in the shortest period of time. Which is pretty odd when you consider how long he went without having his image taken.

I'd imagine that accolade would go to one of the egos who was in many a photograph with Mandela... Bono.

I was wondering which moron was going to ruin a lovely tribute to a great guy. Well done Galv. 'Invictus' was at least a tribute to the way he handled the change and portrayed real forgiveness, which has the ability to change attitudes and moves people to change their ways and thinking towards goodness and unity.
