Mudslide tragedy Washington

[Spursex]

Looks like the death toll is going to rise to what was initially thought to be unthinkable levels.

To all the relatives and especially as Spurs have so many fans based in washington, my condolences.

It's awful to think what some of our American cousins are going through now as the rescue operation turns into a hunt for bodies.

I'd not even been aware of this EX horrible and as you say condolences.

SAD SAD SAD! Awful thing to see. When they (thankfully) pulled that little boy out of the mud, I couldn't help thinking that he was now going be told that his siblings and Dad were gone (his mother was not at home I don't think (again, thankfully). And the ones who lost entire families, how do you cope with that? The recovery operation will be a nightmare.

I just wonder where the planning authorities are in these situations. Who would allow homes to be built under a landslide possibility? Nature almost always returns a 56 degree scree to a situation like that. Are people so stupid? I'm just wondering what will finally result in the area around Pompeii in Italy with Vesuvius above the towns.

We have to try and prevent such events happening again.
