MP Jo Cox Murdered

Appalling news. She was only 41 and she and her husband have a couple of children.
RIP

Such a terrible and pointless murder of a talented politician. RIP.
Thoughts with her family and friends.

I wonder what that's about. It's such a surprising thing to happen in the UK. Her family must be devastated. RIP Jo Cox.

Apparently she was against the bombing of Syria.
No idea if it's connected. This shit is all leading towards an armed police force. What a tragic waste of a human being.

Unbelievably sad news.

Some early reports were suggesting she was trying to calm down an argument between two blokes, so she might just have been the terrible victim of circumstances.

Either way, it's a horrific thought that she was so young, and has two young daughters. Her husband made a very thought-provoking statement which really pulled at the heart strings and demonstrated tremendous courage and bravery.

RIP Jo. A bright light and beacon of hope extinguished far too early.

Early eye witness reports also said the double shout of 'Britain first' which is extremely open ended.

Too many getting their faces on the tv at the moment to know what truly happened.

Just proves whatever the truth, sometimes the world is just mad.

Echo JPA, her hubby's statement really stood out.

Our hearts as human beings must go out to here husband, children and family - it should not have happened.

This is why guns must always remain closely controlled in the UK

Shocking and disgusting events. It really is incredible in this day and age that this type of incident seems to happen , teachers stabbed, now an MP shot dead quite appalling

I was shocked when I read the news. Personally I know nothing about her but, as it's not her husband in the frame, it seems that it's likely politically motivated. I don't recall any assassinations or attempts in the UK since the IRA officially hung up their trip wires and timers and booby-traps.

Apparently it's a local man who had a history of mental health problems.

Just devastating, such a waste of a young life. Leaving behind a family through some bastards evil actions. Beyond comprehension.

Her husband has shown a lot of class (and considerable bravery) with his comments.

In a statement, Brendan Cox said: "Today is the beginning of a new chapter in our lives. More difficult, more painful, less joyful, less full of love. I and Jo's friends and family are going to work every moment of our lives to love and nurture our kids and to fight against the hate that killed Jo.
"Jo believed in a better world and she fought for it every day of her life with an energy, and a zest for life that would exhaust most people.
"She would have wanted two things above all else to happen now, one that our precious children are bathed in love and two, that we all unite to fight against the hatred that killed her. Hate doesn't have a creed, race or religion, it is poisionous.
"Jo would have no regrets about her life, she lived every day of it to the full."

RIP and huge sympathy to her husband, children and extended family.

RIP Jo Cox, by all accounts one of the good ones. I remember listening to her speech on Syria and thinking this is the kind of caring, compassionate person that I would like as my MP. Very moving tribute from her husband. Hope over hate every time.
