Vital Football Legend
None so bitter as a footballer scorned.

Interestingly enough, he seems to be blaming Manchester City for the fact he's at Bradford and not a top Premier League team.

Strange, but I thought if he was that good he'd be beating clubs off with a dirty stick.

Devante Cole: I should have joined Southampton... Manchester City don't care about the English kids

So says Devante:

Another typical hatchet job by the Fail. Tired of the 'they bought the title' the hacks churn out another in the series entitled 'City Ruining English Football' and its sequel 'City to blame for the demise of the English National Team'.

Never let the in the way of a story as the journo ignores all the evidence from the success of English players in the current youth team squads at all levels. See the piece in the guardian as linked on another tread on this site.

Clearly the lad is feeling sorry for himself underpinned by an unhealthy measure of 'entitlement - aka 'I am the son of a famous footballer and so should get extra privileges'.

He has chosen the bitter and twisted option when a good long hard look at himself might bring a realisation that perhaps he really isn't as good as he thinks he is. He rather undermines his own arguments when he relates that his father......

"had to leave Arsenal for Bristol City. Two years later, he was back in the Premier League with Newcastle"

....thereby only proving that if you are good enough you can get back into the top level BUT you have to graft and prove yourself and not just expect it to be handed to you in a plate. Should take a leaf out of Jamie Vardy's book perhaps.

Simple answer - not regarded as good enough so time to move on and try elsewhere.

Get over it.

From Football364's mediawatch:

"Devante Cole’s ‘woe is me’ schtick in the Daily Mail in which he complains that Manchester City do not care about English kids and gave more chances to Hispanic Academy players like Jose Pozo and Marcos Lopes would elicit more sympathy if Pozo had not been sold to a second-flight Spanish side after just 135 minutes of Premier League football and Lopes to Monaco without playing a single Premier League minute. And if Cole had not turned down a new City contract. And if Cheadle-born George Evans had not progressed all the way through the City ranks to make his debut this season.

Other than that…what a terrible tale of woe."

Game, set and match.

Stunning. His Dad lest we forget benefitted like Danny Mills and D Sturridge from some lengthy medical treatment at City that he will be appreciating as he gets older. Their bitterness knows no bounds.

I smell a rag on this.

Just when we have stories in the press praising our academy and telling us how we're surpassing the rags all of a sudden Devante gives this interview, that tells me this was set up by the rags friends in the press as a desperate attempt to discredit us. Dicks.

You could be right mate. Youngsters may think twice about coming to us if they think their path will be blocked. Shame Iheanacho & Garcia blew that out of the water last night

Didn't his dad leave us to go Birmingham after 1 season, and promptly got relegated..... &wasn't the travelling and being far from his family the reason he went, that and he never really wanted to be with us in the 1st place......

Devante has been sold by Bradford to league one rivals Fleetwood. Big bad Bradford obviously don't care for English kids either.
