Yes PM and you return to basics with the players you have. Pick a RB at RB - pick a LB at LB or at least a competent defender. If a player is not keeping to the position he has been allocated then sub him.

Moreover do not pick players who, it is patently clear to everyone except you, are not good enough. Some of our under 23s and under 18s could play better than the idiots you have been picking.

And finally, can I ask - do you actually train players to play a system. To most of us it doesn't look like it.

Which left back should he have picked?

Yes, let's throw more kids into a side that's arguing with itself and is devoid of confidence. Sounds a masterstroke for their long term development.

Iacavotti's back now, isn't he? He was good enough to be picked at the start of the season.

Makes me wonder too Jock........but it certainly ISN"T penalties ! :21:

Like everyone else I crave some stability and continuity and so have been happy to give Montanier the benefit of the doubt for as long as possible. However having made the trip up to Wigan and seen us make one of the worst sides in our division look like Barcelona, I am beginning to have serious doubts. It's a fair point about the left back and I have no issue about Lichaj playing there. However Monty made things worse by then playing other players out of position in order to make that happen. Lets not forget he played a midfielder at right back, a right back in central midfield. and a centre half alongside him. I was not sure at any stage of the match what position Dumitru was meant to be playing and Britt and The Lord were taking it in turns to drop deep in a no. 10 role. You can blame the players to a point for under performing but the structure of the team was obviously wrong after about 10 minutes of the match and yet Monty did nothing about it. Perreira at right back and Cash in central midfield with Lam as the holding midfielder would at least have prevented the carnage down the right side of our defence. Added to that his inability to do anything about our poor run of results and our terrible disciplinary record and I think he needs to go. I like the guy but he looks and sounds a beaten man to me.

Do you agree with him selecting Dumitru then CP ?
Everyone except him can see he's terrible .
May as well start with 10 men.
I don't rate Grant much but he's a huge step up on Dumitru .

Totally agree BarrowRed. Freedman got heavily criticised last season, in even more difficult circumstances, for 'going back to basics' and looking to not concede. After the Brentford game it led to some decent results which, in effect, kept us in the Championship. Now some are saying that's what we should do. Yes it was negative, but it got results.

I don't advocate DF now of course. But we now need a manger who can play people in their correct positions, improve the midfield from transfers this window and motivate them to fight for points. PM can't do that.

we lost some of our best players since last season including one of the best keepers in the league.. how long before some of you see that?

fook 'negative results', we are striving for positive results but we wont get any results when the players are this shitiirrespective of whether there is ten behind the ball or not, not only are they poor, they dont do their jobs.. what fkn players are you watching???? oh yeah sorry, the god that is lans, fkn donk, was never ever good enough to be our captain and sums up our over rating of players,

and new owner, need to get rid of them black away shirts. not even forest colour and we are always dire in it :14:

shyte, but was arguably our best player versus newcastle when he was the outlet ball.. at least in opponents half which is more than vaughan, lans, 3 centre halves every week lol

ozzie needs a rest too.

PM's been here long enough to get the basics fixed, it's alarming now to hear him talking about getting the basics right at this late stage.

It begins to sound as though he's lost the players, hope I'm wrong here. It sure doesn't help that we have no definite strong man type leader on the pitch.

He's not the man to get us out of trouble with the players at his disposal, just not strong enough.

I agree completely ORF. he said he was going to tighten up the defence after Burton Albion. still hasn't done so.

I did say "at least a competent defender". I too am fully aware that we do not have a recognised fit left back, but we do have Iacovitti, as someone else has pointed out.

I didn't say "throw more kids in", I merely said that some of our under 18s and under 23s could play better, just to point out that the likes of Caryol, Dimitru and Lica are just not good enough. However, if Toby Edser is good enough for the bench then he is good enough to play.
