Mixed feelings

The old Music Hall comedian's joke used to be that "Mixed feelings were when you saw your mother-in-law driving over a cliff in your brand new car."

For me it is the thought of Fawaz still having 20% share in our team. If we ever get back to the Premiership - a big IF - then I assume he thinks that he will recoup part if not all of his and his family's money he has squandered in his futile and misguided running of OUR club.

Much as I want to see the Garibaldi Red appearing again alongside the modern greats in this game, the concept of Fawaz being rewarding for his ineptitude over the past four years fills me with anger.

As Billy used to say, NR, it is what it is. From a fan's point of view I wouldn't worry about it if we get back in the PL

He won't be. Folk see the PL as this glorious chance to write off our debts all it will mean is celebrating reaching 12 points, shouting about champions of Europe & that a few players & their agents make a great deal of money.

It won't be end of our problems it'll be the start of a whole load of new ones.

Think this deal will be good for us as probably has some sort of timescale I'd probably loses extra five percent per season till he's gone. For the mess he's created it will take close on that to stabilise everything and build trust and bridges that he has destroyed with clubs like Chelsea . Also if he holds 20% of the club then he should be paying 20% wages bills outgoing so so is this another way to remove him by not paying in reducing holding instead my dying wish would be that we reached the premier league the season after he has finally been fooked off

Most news sources suggest it's an initial 80% share, progressing to a 100% buy out. I've not seen a timescale given for that final 20% though.

All he has done is piss his own money up the wall and now like anyone else he is entitled to get back as much as he can

I am sure there will be an outrage at this comment but asides not being able to run a piss up in a brewery he pretty much leaves the club as he found it

When he bought the club off the field we were a joke Arthur Pelling and their teams had brought to the club an unprecedented level of aggro over transfer dealings managers communication buying tickets not being allowed to smoke outside blah blah and Fawaz has done the same but condensed it into 4 years instead of 12.

Fawaz has completely fooked it on one area and one area only and that is bill paying, had it not been for that we would have had pretty much nothing to attack him for, lets put it this way he wouldn't be selling and we'd have an administratively compliant clown of an owner instead of clown who has burnt his bridges

His ability to fook managers off is no different to the last regime IMO more emotionally driven than football driven like under ND but nevertheless very little difference in the eventual outcome

We will sit and slag this squad to stupid proportions off the back of a recent run of results but seriously now, lets just look at the current squad and the squad he inherited to even contemplate that there is not a significant improvement is just shutting your eye's on reality to justify hatred of Fawaz

The fact is JJM takes over a club in a better position on the pitch than Fawaz did

Forest's reputation under Fawaz is shit but fortunately this is football and new ownership and new money talks a hell of a lot louder than holding previous owners to task. In a heartbeat all that will be a thing of the past

What won't be a thing of the past is next season if we do bring in Rowett, what are we going to be saying if we sit 14/15th in league in December?

Will that change after Fawaz has left?

Regardless even in EPL they probably won't make any money and pay dividends to shareholders

His chance of any income is if they ever sell the club on for big money

He can't make them sell the club though although I guess he could sell his shares on

Ive got a feeling he's skint enough to do that for peanuts at some stage

And I assume new owners would have first refusal on them

He's not a businessmen and the stuff he does suggests he doesn't get great advice or have great people around him

So I reckon the new owners will have a deal worded in their favour

(assuming it all happens)

I wouldn't be sad to see us go tits up & start again if it meant this bloody clown losing everything he has invested - and I don't buy the supposed £100m investment ( nothing close to that sum ).

Mark

You have to look at the fact that the management team and squad that finished the season under doughty estate and FC as chairman avoided relegation with a bit to spare and actually started to get a string of decent results

I personally would swap the management duo of Cotterill and SOD and the squad we had then with the shambles we have now in a heartbeat and be very confident we would avoid relegation

Wouldn't you agree?

The level right now is way below the level that ended that season

Way below?

Would like david may when man utd won the champions league ...wouldn't let go of the cup. could easily see same situation with fawaz.

It is arguable that the new owners inherit a far better squad of players than Fawaz did. Lest we forget, SOD had to search through fire sales to get us even 11 players on the pitch. But that doesn't hide the fact that it is only a better squad on paper. There are still many that are not worthy or good enough to wear the shirt, and many that are, for some reason are currently performing poorly.

You start however to lose the argument when you go on about smoking bans as though this was Mark Arthur's or whoever's fault. Whatever Mark Arthur's and Pelling's faults were, and personally I don't regard them as failures, at least in those days we had those management positions filled.

Also I think you will find that the turnover of Managers over a set time scale is greater under Fawz than it was under Nigel

Mark said close your eyes and compare the teams

I'm comparing the management and team that finished that season to this one

Chalk and cheese

That team took 25 points from last 16 games of season (top 8 form)

Dread to think how few points this team has taken from last 16 games but it's certainly relegation form and some?

Once the season ended and takeover talks continued several players went out of contract (which was made clear they would by doughty before he passed away)

But like I say close your eyes and actually compare the teams that finished the season and I know which one I would prefer now

This one is far worse

The team that finished that season had an inspirational Geddy in midfield. He was brought in, along with those other players that came in on loan, from the proceeds of the sale of Wes and Bamford.

Don't forget that before those sales happened, the team was on it's knees, and the club's finances were on life support. I recall Frank Clark suggested in an interview a couple of years ago that he felt the club at that point, with funding withdrawn/limited from ND, was technically insolvent.

It was an absolutely fantastic effort by Frank Clark, SOD & Cotterill to avoid relegation that year but it did come at the cost of Wes & Bamford. I'm not yet sure if we're at that crisis point yet because I still have faith in the players. It's faith in the manager that I've lost this time around.

Jimmy when Fawaz took over the club the likes of Geddy had gone, they were not NFFC players what Fawaz inherited was a squad with no defenders now no matter how much you think of Mills Mancienne Paquis and Hobbs they are a damn site better than what we had same applies to the vacant positions at full back midfield and up front

Who was better than Osborn Cash Lans and Britt at the time, Magic Reid Elliot Ward Mcgugan was about as good as it got

I certainly have mixed feelings about the whole thing.

One the one hand I am delighted that he is going, but on the other I am very disappointed he did not fook off three years ago.

If we get promoted I don't think people will be too bothered about the detail of our ownership arrangement. With just 20%, he won't be in a position to asset strip at that stage.
