Mini Derby

I'm hoping to watch the match just as long as the wife allows me :why:

Entry to watch Manchester United U21s play Manchester City U21s is absolutely free at Leigh Sports Village this Thursday, 11th February 2016, 8pm kick off.

Did you know the game is being beamed live around the world and here in the UK on BT Sports 1?

I will have to try and persuade Mrs Skoorb that there will be less violence and bad behaviour than she normally endures watching Eastenders.

Doubt that i will be successful

HT 1-0

Mini rags aren't so mini - they seem to mostly be a size larger than our side. Only seen 15 minutes but we don't seem to have penetration - a lot of sideways back and forth and limited fast progress forward. Where have we seen that before?

Early signs in the second half don't look promising. Nowhere near close enough to the rags, no pressure on the ball and not really working hard enough IMO. Making it far too easy for the rags who have ages on the ball.

20 mins to go

Horribly reminiscent of the senior team - slow build up, too ready to play the ball backwards and here an unwillingness to run beyond their markers going forward.

Barker worries me a bit. Capable of some sublime movement but just doesn't seem to work hard enough - slow to put any pressure on his opposing defender and not really winning to make much movement without the ball. Not the first time I've seen him like this. But apparently he put in a great performance against Liverpool the other day when the EDS won 0-3

Some of the young ones are likely to get eaten alive if they are fielded against a strong Chelsea XI in the FA cup

Garcia loves to have the ball but hasn't done anything threatening with it - a couple of wayward shots incl a free kick when there were better options. Young forward on for Celina (Faulatua?) showed some strength and promise but has faded. Glendon anonymous. Angelino done ok - willing worker.

A few late efforts as the clock winds down into added time

Fair summation Skoorb, it was disappointing. We did step it up when Faupala came on as we had a focal point in our attack from then onwards but credit the mini rags for closing ranks.

Yes the lad who came on up front did well, strong, held the ball up. Seemed to me as if our lads were a size too small at times.

Thought the same, particularly in midfield, the two Garcias are tidy little players but they're not the type to win the ball and drive the team forward. I thought Bryan should've been pushed into midfield to give us more presence. Humphreys could've played in his position then instead of at right full, although he did impress me on the right, he's lightning quick.
