Millers out on loan 2020/21 thread

Let's hope he's OK Mike, though he is a Miller so . . .

Good that Cooper got away before the positive Covid tests isn't it.

Saw Vas had scored and they were saying complimentary things about Miller on Sky.

Rather worrying news ... manager Chris Beech said that Joshua Kayode needed crutches after the game to walk about. No doubt we will get more medical details over the next few days , but Joshua will be disappointed if he can't make it into the next Rep. Ireland U-21 squad (friendly game coming up fairly soon v Wales on 26th March).

Good that Jake Cooper has got the potential to finish the season with more game time, as he obviously wasn't in Warney's plans for the Millers first team squad, even as a sub. Only time will tell if that was the right decision, but going out on loan is better for his development than just doing the usual training routines with the Millers Reserves/Academy players, plus he's stepping up a level from his previous loan to Gateshead.

Seems unlikely now that any of the other Millers youngsters will be going on a similar loan, as none of them have played at even the next level below the National League, and National Leagues North/South have had their fixtures suspended

Seven Millers players out on loan now .
Some have 7pm kick-offs, some 7.45pm tonight.

Jones still out injured for Crewe A. (They won 1-0)
Kayode out injured for Carlisle U. (They drew 1-1)

Miller, Tilt, Proctor and Vassell all start. Cooper on subs bench.

Update...
Played whole game unless stated, no "assists", only Tilt and Vassell were booked

MILLER (Northampton T., L1) didn't score, L1-2
TILT (Wigan Ath., L1) scored one, booked, W2-0
PROCTOR (Wigan Ath., L1) didn't score, subbed 67 mins, W2-0
VASSELL (Fleetwood T., L1) scored one (pen), booked, W1-0
COOPER (Hartlepool U., NL) unused sub, D1-1

Additional information - Ex-Miller Lamy assist for Grimsby T. goal against Carlisle U.

Next "Loan Squad" action scheduled for Saturday

Proctor and Tilt not playing today, because Wigan's match has been postponed due to their originally scheduled opponents playing in the EFL Trophy Final (I think)

Kayode still out injured for Carlisle U. (They won 3-1)
Jones still out injured for Crewe A. (They lost 0-3)

Just leaves three - Miller, Vassell and Cooper - and they all start . Cooper makes his debut at National League level today, at left-back (according to BBC Football website)

Update...

Played whole game unless stated, none booked, no goals at all in any of their games!

MILLER (Northampton T., L1) subbed 74 mins , D0-0
VASSELL (Fleetwood T., L1) D0-0
COOPER (Hartlepool U., NL) D0-0

Additional - Hartlepool played the last 44 minutes of the game with only ten men, so did well to keep a clean sheet.

Next "Loan Squad" action scheduled for Tuesday. No fixtures for Crewe A. and Northampton T. in midweek.

BBC football website details about Cooper may have been wrong! The Hartlepool Mail is saying that Cooper was playing on the right of a back three at the start of the match, although the formation changed after the sending off. They gave him 7 out of 10 for his performance , so he must have played quite well. Hartlepool seem to have a few defensive problems with injuries and suspensions (sounds familiar), so there is a good chance that he could be starting for them again on Tuesday .

Well, we need right-sided players too! And 7/10 for your first appearance can't be bad.

I've had a quick look through 'The Chronicle' but it's all about Sunderland's Papa John win and Newcastle looking at Chris Wilder.

Just seen this on Twitter

Josh Kayode's six goals on loan at Carlisle this season make him joint-third-highest under-21s scorer in England's top four tiers

He was not playing at centre forward for quite a few of those games too. Not found any update this week on his ankle injury.

Three "Loan Squad" games scheduled for toinght...

Kayode unavailable for Carlisle U. due to Rep. Ireland U-21 duty. (Carlisle lost 0-1)

Miller took a knock in Northampton Town's previous game and has not recovered in time to be tonight's match squad. (They won 1-0, Sam Hoskins scored)

Cooper not in Hartlepool U. squad - reason unknown, but he was substituted at half-time in his previous start. Hartlepool had several players returning from injury and suspension. (They won 1-0 tonight)

... so none of the "Loan Squad" played tonight. Some of them are scheduled to be in action next Saturday though.

He's on nine bookings, Mike, so another one will give him a suspension (unless they've made it more than ten bookings? I know they used to do that when it got late in the season?)

Some comments - the amount of time that Miller has spent out injured, early season , and after going on loan, suggests that he is not going to be a "good value" signing for us... even if we are in L1 next season. Think he has another year on his Millers contract still to run. We never seem to understand the risks of signing injury-prone players. We have thrown so much money down the drain, under Warney, and he is supposed to be a fitness expert. Ok -he may not be directly responsible for recruitment, but he should be looking at players previous injuries records and having a say in whether we should sign them. Player after player plays a few games, then breaks down... or after having an injury-prone couple of years with us, gets offered a new contract, soon gets injured yet again , then eventually goes out on loan or as a free transfer.
